Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

For those of you familiar with the history of Bungie, I'm sure you're already aware of the fact that Bungie was initially intending to release Halo for the Macintosh, and not the Xbox. But Microsoft contacted Bungie, and convinced them to market Halo strictly for the Xbox. The reactions of the fans were mixed, but the majority was a slight disappointment.

So my question to you is this. If Bungie had declined Microsoft, and decided to ship Halo on the Macintosh, how do you think that would've affected Bungie?

I feel that Bungie probably wouldn't have made such a huge profit, but would've gained huge credibility to fans of the Macintosh, and Apple in general. Although Microsoft would've seen the huge success of Halo on the Macintosh, and would ask Bungie again during the development of Halo 2. Would they've said yes?

Halo never progressed to first-person when it was being developed for Mac, did it?

Nope.

Wasn't it 3rd person for a while there? (After being an RTS)

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Halo was originally on the Myth 2 Soulblighter engine then it went FPS later on.

Halo CE is the first and only Halo on the MAC.

No. However, I think they still would've decided to change it during the expected release on the Macintosh.

So many things would be different. I fear that I wouldn't have had the many great times with friends on XBL if it stayed on MAC.

I'm a PC person, and I only played Xbox.

I use a Mac, and I agree with you. Without hesitation.

The Xbox provided the ultimate gaming experience. The Mac is simply a computer with the functionality of playing games. And unfortunately, not that many games.

I think you misunderstand slightly. I think he's saying that Xbox never would have gotten off the ground if it weren't for Halo, and the same could be said for Xbox Live with Halo 2.

On topic, I think port is a poor word for this particular topic, because Halo was very much still in development when Bungie went over to Microsoft. Port implies a finished game being moved to another platform.

Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own council will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.” -Yoda

Halo wouldn't be as popular. The Xbox would have been a failure. And Most of us wouldn't be on here, except for the truly loyal fans.

Bye.

I think that, had the Microsoft acquisition not gone ahead, the xbox might have been a failing console. It's possible that Apple might have seen the console market as a viable option and gone head to head with the struggling Xbox.

I think it would of still been a good game, but it wouldn't of received the recognition it deserved and the Xbox wouldn't have been as successful.

Well, think about it. Why do you think Marathon was such a popular game? Mainly because Mac users weren't so used to such awesome FPS's, and that's exactly what Marathon was. In the words of Chris Carney, "Back then, Mac user's would've been excited by Space Invaders in a tube."

Not only would Halo be popular on the Mac, but it would've been very unique, especially for the people who used Macs back then.

But yes, it wouldn't have gone so far if it hadn't been moved to the Xbox.

I wasn't around for Marathon. I would've only been 1.5 years old at its release.
