Subject: Get rid of the stupid spam filter its useless and its a liabilty

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

Seriously, just get rid of it, its useless and inconsistent, Ive had to wait for ages when its supposedly 30 seconds. Its useless, and its not going to stop people spamming, it just slows them down, and we good citizens have to suffer for it, just get rid of it!

Would you rather have the forums spammed?

Even at a large capacity, Instant Messaging has a spam filter. Bungie.net is not an Instant Messanger and the spam filter is a useful way to stop childishness and spamming in the forum. I personally think it's a great feature and should not be changed, but if it is changed it should be lengthened to a minute.

This has been brought up before and Tom has shot it down before.

The only place where I'd like to see the spam filter disabled(or at least having it disabled be an option) is in private groups. Sometimes I'm so fast with posts that it kicks the spam filter in and I have to wait. On the mains, I'd like to see it stay. We'd have idiots macro'ing the forums left and right. No thanks.

Honestly, if you can't wait 30 seconds, you need to take good, long a look at yourself.

Yes, but idiots can spam the forums anyway, they just wait thirty seconds.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

I'm thinking that if asked to choose between a computer's clock and a user's perception of time, it is the latter which has gone awry.

But as you said earlier, you really have to "wait for ages when its supposedly 30 seconds." Are you implying that it is simply inconvenient for you and that somehow only "good intention-ed" posters should be immune from the alleged "30 seconds"?

I really find it hard to follow your logic.

Yeah, so they can achieve (say it takes a moderator thirty minutes to notice) at most 60 posts -two pages of spam in a single topic- in comparison to an infinite amount of posts and crash the server.

By the way, how is it possible for you to find an interesting topic, read the original post and all other posts in it, and write a quality post that is clear, on topic and to the point in less than thirty seconds? I rarely, if ever, hit the spam filter.

I'd rather be spammed with 1 post every 30 seconds than 15 posts every 30 seconds.
A good macro with a good internet connection can do that.

This looks like Septi-trolling to me.

Well, if its not, I disagree that the spam throttle is useless and a liability. Ask Watermelon King how he feels about it. I'm gonna prefer the opposite of whatever he says he wants.

I know who you are.

The spam filter obviously has a purpose: to stop people from posting so quickly (heck, it might even be a way to increase performance on the back-end); and by you complaining about it, that further justifies having it around. If you're hitting that limit consistently, perhaps you should analyze your posts for content. If you're posting just a few words, consider posting more. Not everyone hits the filter, and if you do, it should only be for a few moments until you're able to post your response.

and we good citizens have to suffer for it, just get rid of it!That would imply that you're a good citizen. How can Bungie tell you from the rest of the "bad citizens;" how can they tell for any of us?

And alot of people will get discouraged at having to wait 30 seconds in between posts and stop after the first few. Not to mention that I think the filter resets every time they try to post the same post.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

It's not too long of a wait and it does help to stop people from spamming the forums.

I can understand that you might want to post as often as possible, but seriously?

I can understand you are over-reacting to the system, but I am curious as to how exactly is it a "liability"?

Because I have to wait to post and sometimes it's not 30 seconds it's like 5 minutes or something it's not removed at least fix it and keep it consistent

That's not what a liability is.

And if you think it takes 5 minutes for the 30 second filter to reset, then I think you need to find a new way to keep track of time.

Might I suggest purchasing a fog-horn that goes off every 30 seconds to help you know when it's okay to post again? Or a really loud ticking clock.

Lol

But seriously, I have a watch and a clock in my room, and it was like 5 or 10 minutes since I first tried to submit, and it still wouldn't let me
