Subject: Should the report button vary in size?

Roll the dice, try again.

I know what you're thinking, but please just hear me out. I think the report button should have different weight to it. You see when a user is reported - it should show up more quickly if higher titled members report it.

Members would have - this
Heroic Members would have - this
Legendary Members would have - this
Mythic Members would have - this

Say it takes a user 7 "reports" to get themselves in the report queue, Members would make 1, Heroic's would get 2, Legendary would be 3, and Mythic would count as 4.

If a user with high trust rating reports another user it should have more weight to it rather than a bunch of users who haven't been around as long. I think it might make the banning system happen a little bit quicker and more efficient.

What do you guys think?

Hard is good.

You know what I'm thinking?

I'm thinking of the phrase "size matters"

Did you really know that?

(except yeah, I agree, but I'd use the term "weight")

I wouldn't be surprised if something like this already exists.

OP wants higher titles to have higher influence over reports.

Meh.

If you report at all, that's the key thing. I don't think what your title is should have a reflection on that.

I like the originality here, but some Mythics would probably abuse the power, and in general I don't really feel it's necessary. Still, I like the originality and the slight fun/sarcasm of the thread.

In the end, nah. ;)

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

No, titles should not affect reports.

I think that titles have nothing to do with knowing what to report. If I remember correctly, the report queue shows everything that's been reported, either way.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

The Black Chapter!

Change it so that the higher your title, the larger the button appears on the page.

You have no idea how revolting I can be.

DeeJ's Challenge

There is already a problem:

If I were to make a thread like this:
Subject:
Mythics are Blue Because They Cry All the Time

Body:
because they have no friends because they spend all day online.
you could easily assume I was making a humorous thread meant to poke fun at the Mythics. At the same time, a Mythic member may take offense and report me. Now, it would take 7 very offended Members to bump me up the report queue but only 2 Mythic Members to move me there. The weight balance could never be right unless it was a 1:1:1:1 ratio.

Obviously this is a pretty direct example but what if all the Mythic members decided to report everybody who created threads in The Flood Forum? The reign of blue terror would go unchecked. We would never be safe until we became one of them...

Why all the negativity?

A higher title shows:
Respect for the rules (No recent bans)
Age (It takes a while for your title to become Mythic, and by that time, the rules should be second-nature)

Can this be abused? Yes, but that's largely irrelevant. If a mod swings by a thread and sees nothing wrong, nothing happens.

EDIT: And look at what acnboy said, if you abuse the report button anyway, you get reported.

This is something I agree completely on. If you have a "higher" title (Mythic, for example), then the reports should have a heavier weight towards getting on the report queue. Most members with "higher" titles generally have a pretty strong grasp on the forum rules, so I see no reason why not.

Also, to the person who suggested it would cause report abuse: people have been banned for report abuse, and Achronos even mentioned that the system used for catching the abusers works quite efficiently.

?

What's obvious? I meant to show some sort of illustration as to what I'm talking about. If users that have been here longer report posts, I think they should have more weight to it as to a member that just joined last week.

Putting this in control of higher titled members would give them more responsibility and get the report to the mods quicker for clean up. Is that better for you?

He thinks you're trolling for some reason, even though you suggested a good idea.

That sounds like a great idea! It would probably make moderating a bit easier.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

I don't think so. "Higher" titled members have not demonstrated to me anything approaching an indicator that they should be more trusted, and that their opinion carries any more weight than anyone else.

This is obvious trolling. Deny it all you want. The 100% approval rating its getting from some of you makes that obvious. You guys are not as good at this as you think you are.

By your logic, simply because you are a Forum Ninja doesn't make you more right. I'm going to disregard your post as trolling.

Higher titled members have demonstrated that they haven't gotten banned recently, so obviously have a good idea of what the rules are. Doesn't mean they should be more trusted.

Honestly, what's the worst that can happen? And I made a thread like this a very long time ago, I wasn't trolling then.

By no means are "higher" members perfect; however their elongated time here on Bungie.net along with their trust rating should be enough to maybe increase the weight a bit more than others.

This is obvious trolling. Deny it all you want. How is this trolling? What's there to troll? OP's points are reasonable and make sense for the most part.

The 100% approval rating its getting from some of you makes that obvious. You guys are not as good at this as you think you are.Not necessarily; it just shows we agree that this feature (if in fact it's not already present) would be more beneficial.

No not worth it. Plus it allows the higher members to be arrogant and report people they do not like.
