Casuals don't care what they play. Being a competetive player I don't like playing all social playlists as much fun as it is going 300 games in a row with no loss. I mean really its up to you I just think dividing the playlists make it easy on the people who want to have a good time. I do both so .. Everything has a form of competetivness in it. I don't play rugby anymore so I enjoy playing competetivly. Does it mean I care way to much no. I enjoy what I do. I like spending 400$ on a headset. It is great for gaming and games like skyrim.

Agreed the splitting of playlists was the best idea. The one I carn't stand is the elitist between the 2 groups. Also I find its mindless fans that don't care not casuals.

  • 01.17.2012 6:08 AM PDT

It really depends on my mood. I'll play swat, zombies, or multi team if i just want to do challanges or not put forth any effort. I'll play team slayer if I feel like trying, though for the past week since the title update its been super glitchy for me. Maybe i should get my internet fixed.

  • 01.17.2012 6:09 AM PDT

Because aliens.

Agreed.

True competitive playing has stooped down to low standards. Before all these idiotic casuals there used to be some kind of mutual respect not only between competitive players but also Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 players. It was all about skill and good reaction times, not who used the most overpowered gun.

I miss the old Halo 3 days. I was barely twelve when I got it but I enjoyed it for the fun I had with my friends and not for proving I was some kind of pro. I felt genuinely more happy for flying up in the air thanks to some glitch instead of managing to get my first Running Riot. To be honest I kept away from ranked games and lone wolf gametypes because I was afraid I would be massacred. :P

I even miss old Forge mode. Easier building in Reach perhaps, but who hasn't felt that particular pride in managing to make a ramshackle house made of walls finally stand up?

*Sigh* I probably sound like an oldf*g.

  • 01.17.2012 7:37 AM PDT

Lol

A lot of things that made games competitive in the first place shouldn't of existed. Without button glitches Halo CE or 2 wouldn't of been the great "competitive" games they were. Without glitches: CS, Halo, Unreal Tournament, and Quake wouldn't of been great competitive games in the first place. Games are always intended to please the majority not the minority.

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

you sure the waypoint population is derp casual?
Yes, or atleast complete retards that no nothing about how a competitive game is/how it should work.

Every time I go there, I see threads created by morons who think default Reach is fine or that ZB is bad, or how about that Tornado Gun thread? God, that one leads the parade.
If people like this haven't been banned from their forums, we might as well all cancel our Halo 4 pre-orders.

Halo: Reach is the beginning of a new age for gaming.
It proves that developers can get away with punishing their players instead of fixing their game....and yet the fanboys will still sing praises to them.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

You're a -blam!- retard.

You're crying about an issue that doesn't even exist.

Because in all honesty. All these "Casual" elements that you cry about, aren't even that big of an issue.

Lets take Bloom, as an example, since it's the poster child for your issues.

Bloom actually HELPS competitive players rise above casual players.

How you ask?

Because who has better teamwork?
Casuals, or Competitive players?

What is the easiest way to take advantage of Bloom to make sure you come out ahead every time?
BRING A -blam!- TEAMMATE!

Now would you please STFU!
Because you have no -blam!- clue what the -blam!- you are talking about.

IF anything, the right path for gaming is to ensure that "Casual" players become worthy opponents to play against.
The competitve half of this community would rather turn casual players into "Fish in a barrel" instead.

Think it through for a second 360.
You'll see I'm right.

Bloom hurts solo players more than it hurts team players.
Competitive players are team players.
Casual player usually play by themselves.

Casual players don't have the organization and communication that competitive players possess.

If bloom becomes a toss up in a 1v1.
The competitive players make it 2v1 instead.

No wait. strike that. The competitive players -blam!- about it because they can't run around by themselves anymore, even though they have all the tools necessary defeat bloom. But insist on wanting to be able to run around by themselves instead. And would prefer the game without bloom, just so they can run around by themselves instead.

Competitive players are -blam!- retarded. And it's the competitive half that has ruined this game. The entire game WAS CATERED TO THE COMPETITIVE community. And they are too stupid to realize it and refuse to take the blame for it.

Quit bans...that's a competitive thing.
Bloom, benefits the competitive community.
Armor Abilities are even more beneficial to you than they are to the competitive community.

Such as Armor Lock.
If someoen compeitive goes into armor lock, he has teammates that come to back him up before it runs out.

If someone casual goes into Armor Lock. NOBODY comes to bail him out.

So think -blam!- through.

And you should come to the realization that this game was entirely catered to the compeitive community.

It's time for you -blam!-s to man up and take responsiblity for your -blam!-hole competitive ideas.

Wow, you're -blam!- retarded. Stop thinking for yourself.
Teamshooting is barely effected by either the presence or absence of bloom. If anything, ZB makes teamshooting even more prevalent while actually creating a wider individual skill gap.

Shut up, kid. You have no idea what you're talking about. Why do you even continue to post? Everyone thinks that you're stupid. Why you get so pooperpeeved is beyond me. I mean really, you're the -blam!- retard here. Don't get mad at us for telling you that you're wrong.

No, bloom hurts the competitive players for two reasons.
1. It creates randomness.
and
2. It holds us back. We have to wait for you because you couldn't handle the BR.

I'm literally baffled. Weow

Why you think you have the right or the knowledge to talk about competitive play baffles me, Lieutenant.

Ok then, if I'm retarded, explain to me how bloom is more beneficial to a solo player.

Explain to me how bloom helps a solo player take on a competitive player (who has a team that communicates backing him up)

Explain to me how Armore Lock, benefits a solo player more than it benefits a competitive player.

Seeing as how competitive players actually have a team that can save you before you armor lock runs out. Explain how that is more beneficial to someone who has no team to bail him out before Armor lock runs out.

Everything you people -blam!- about and blame on casuals. has actually been more beneficial to competitive players.

The only retards here are people like you who refuse to acknowledge it.

Oh wow...so now because I didn't play the game as long as you did, suddenly my opinion is invalidated.

Another perfect example of how retarded you are, that you base people opinions on a bunch of worthless numbers. I'm sorry. But I'd rather have the opinion of someoen who plays the game for what it is. rather than someone who plays the game for a number just so they can try to talk down to someone who doesn't have a history of numbers as good as yours.

WHO -blam!- CARES ABOUT THE NUMBERS! Dumbasses, that's who.
Adn it's dumbasses like you that care more about numbers than the actuall gameplay that has ruined gaming in general.

So please stfu and go away.

Bloom hurts solo players more than it hurts team players.
Competitive players are team players.
Casual players are Lone wolfs.

On that end, you'd be correct. However, it's far more constricting to competitive players to the point where we NEED teams just to compensate for such a bad mechanic because the mechanic calls for spamming rather than the pacing it's supposed to promote. Reach is the only game where I've been so wanting for full parties. Surely I have preferred them before, but now we are forced into our habits as a result of bloom since it's now so easy for a fight between a player and a better player to end up going either way not as a result of skill.

In other words, bloom makes teamwork essential rather than a trait of a good team and having that forced upon us doesn't help things. It hurts casuals too, because you'll find so few of an amount of good players actually going random to help even up teams as as a result you'll see games where a full party will destroy randoms just about every time.

Name one thing.

Bloom? Nope, I already explained why.

Armor Lock? Nope, it's a crutch for bad players.

Ranking System? Nope, there isn't one.

No, it hurts players playing by themselves. Out of competitive players and casual players, it hurts competitive players.
