Subject: Is there a limit?

|Best group|FileShare|Bungie.me Profile|Do it!|Click here!

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

I was wondering about the inbox: is there a limit of messages stored in it?

If so what is the limit?

I would private message a Employee, but the chances of me getting a reply, are pretty low. So does anyone know?

There is a limit, but it's extremely high. At one time a lot of ninjas, including myself, had over 500 pages of PMs. Foman and maybe one other were around 800 pages. It used to take us a few attempts to actually open our Inboxes.

We were advised to start deleting PMs because eventually we would never be able to open our inboxes.

I assume that is what happened to many employees. I'm assuming the actual "limit" is 1000 pages, which is equal to 25,000 messages...of course, hardly anyone has ever/will ever reach it.

Just a reminder that deleting them doesn't actually delete them.

Not to my knowledge. I still have every message ever since being here on B.net.

I don't think the limit would be very relevant, if you just want to message an employee who visits the forums casually.

I would think that there is a limit.

If you have an extremely large amount of messages, your inbox can either fail to load or even take a great deal of time just to load the page. I'm at 45 pages right now, and I'm not experiencing any loading issues, so I assume the limit is a couple hundred of pages.

The limit of messages that a single account can hold is probably a number that we won't have to worry about for quite a while.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

Then forgetting all about.

Doesn't seem that good, there is always going to be a situation where you will try to remember something, that is why you archive these things.

Is there a way to check these said not actually deleted messages?

Bungie mobile application has your name all over it. It tracks sent and received messages (entire conversations) over the course of the past few years.

Wake me, when you need me.

Nope. You should see my inbox full of messages from foman.

Huh... shouldn't they set the limit lower if you start having troubles opening your inbox around 500-800 and completely stop later on? Maybe, have a message when you're getting close to the limit, warning you that the system will manually delete the messages for you otherwise.

Why set the limit so high in the first place?

I'm confused...

I think the limit should be shortened, to avoid problems with opening inbox's. Once a threshold is reached, the oldest posts get deleted when a new one arrives. To avoid losing messages to new ones, then perhaps a flag system should be used; where a user can select messages which never auto-delete. Although it is unlikely that the majority will reach this limit, it could be a convenient addition for users who do.

I like that flag idea; and what about a larger inbox for moderators?

How about we just make a group solely to report things to moderators that many users message them for? That way, you have a better chance of getting a quick reaction and we don't have to mess with this other stuff or take up their inbox space.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

You mean it'll be like the report button, but slower?

I was thinking something around those lines. A group is a good idea but the function of it is too slow for a mod to get somewhere. Unless the mod has the group page open in a tab and refreshes it..... Sounds kind of...something.

Varying on how bad the disruption is, probably permanent ban until further notice. We'd have our own set of group moderators that check into what has been reported as well as the post's content along with real moderators.

Do you mean consequences to the users account for the forums as well?
Posted by: ExquisiteDragon
And what would be the penalty for causing disruption in the group? It would have to be open and real consequences would have to apply.
