Subject: Why do you think no one posts like this on Bnet?

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

I see people post replies like this on several other forums in threads that would not be classified as a "help thread". Why not here?

I have seen it done the most here. (Note: I am not saying that every reply is like my example I am just noticing the frequent occurrence of this posting style by some members.)

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Too many dots for my tastes.

This isn't really a help forum?

This is a general discussion forum.

Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but to me that looks like a response you'd get if you posed a question on a help site.

Well I guess people don't want to post like that on this website. I sure don't...

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

I was going to reply to this in that format, but someone else probably will before I finish typing this...

EDIT: I'm disappointed.

Anyway, I guess It is either because it takes longer to type, they just don't like to, or because people are posting in topics that are for general discussions instead of directed at one user.

Who the hell do you think I am?

Because, this just isn't that kind of forum.

I sometimes follow this format when sending messages (without the end username signature for obvious reason of course). I think it's because some other forums are more professional and slower paced than we are relaxed and quick moving.

Hello Top_Gun_2021,

As I write the content of my post, I can't help but notice how awkward and odd this format feels. It's more like I'm writing an impersonal and formal letter than I am addressing a Human Being about some random topic. I expect to never write this way again on Bungie.net Forums.

You;re Welcome,
Hylebos

Dear Top_Gun_2021,

Exactly where have you seen this? Give us an example. Other gamer forums?

I have been from one side of the Internet to the other. I have seen a lot of strange things, but I ain't never seen anyone use business letter format to post on a discussion forum. We are lucky if they even use punctuation, capital letters, or complete words.

It would be nice. I share your dream. However, I think we are wishing for the wrong pony in the wrong rodeo.

Skeptically yours,

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

Doesn't seem fitting to the site.

Hello Top_Gun_2021,

I believe that it is uncommon for people to post like that on this particular site because the forum structure itself is completely different to many other sites where this format is used. For example, on the PCSpecialist forums, users will post as I am now and provide technical support and advice. In these forums, however, it seems to be that everyone simply adds to the discussion without need for addressing the OP again.

Best regards,

Dropship dude.

Not every forum is the same. Bungie.net is unique in many respects. I think this is the easiest to use and cleanest forum on the internet in more ways than one.

I only do that in PM's because it's basically an E-letter, and it's formal.

OP now you got Deej to start posting that way. It is annoying.

Dear Bungie Community,

We should always post like this, because obviously it's the most professional and correct way to post on a forum. No one else can compare to our style and hate for lumpy pudding.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Because it isn't necessary. Formalities really don't have a place here.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

The "open letter" format is usually used to show disdain and to appear to be talking down to your target.

Either our population is capable of showing disdain in a less formal format or they aren't inclined to resort to snooty formatting in order to do so.

One last thought, asking this question could end up starting a trend. Like Anton's 3rd person sign offs.
