So... you're saying our way is more personable?

The "open letter" format is usually used to show disdain and to appear to be talking down to your target.

Either our population is capable of showing disdain in a less formal format or they aren't inclined to resort to snooty formatting in order to do so.

One last thought, asking this question could end up starting a trend. Like Anton's 3rd person sign offs.

I see it's already caught the attention of a employee...

Dear Bungie Community,

We should always post like this, because obviously it's the most professional and correct way to post on a forum. No one else can compare to our style and hate for lumpy pudding.

Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own council will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.” -Yoda

It's not the formatting that's "snooty", it's that you're assuming that the personb using it is. You're projecting your own tone onto their message.

Dearest Coolmike,

I disagree. I find that by using a formal format in an informal setting, it gains a certain snootiness by its very existence.

Champagne at a BBQ if you will. Tuxedos at a little league game.

This world wants to drag you down... And the weight, that guilt they want to hang around your neck, you don’t have to carry it one more step. You think they won’t let you rest, but it’s not up to them. It never was.

Dear Humanity,

We regret bein' alien bastards, we regret comin' to Earth, and we most definitely regret that the Corps. just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet!

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Why do you think no one posts like this on Bnet? Because there's no reason to.

What does the letter format accomplish that regular posting does not? Doesn't it just inject more form, formality, and unnecessary breaks than a regular reply? I see no reason to use that formal letter template. So, I at least won't use it.

More importantly, how many letter formatted replies ago was it that this joke became stale and unfunny?

Hardly. It's just the forums the likes of us frequent are far more relaxed and informal, so when someone does take such a formal tone it is clearly intended to be derogatory.

Hardly.

Rather, you're both Fresh and funny, meaning you have a Will Smith-esque quality to you.

What happens in the Septagon. A Vegas kind of thing, other than most of the people are either too young or too old to go to Vegas.

To be on topic, I usually use the "letter format" when I'm sending somewhat formal PM's.

Dear Top_Gun_2021,

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I will look into posting like this in the near future.

The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.

The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

As you waste your breath complaining about life, Someone out there is breathing their last. Appreciate what you have.

If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.
