There Is No Spoon

Am I the only person that is begging to know if these guys are gonna pull there head out of the clouds and refer to the events that took place only in the Novels. Throughout Halo 2 there were no references AT ALL to the novels. I can only pray cortanas demonic voice is in fact a result of her battle with the covey A.I. Come on, there still are three other spartans left, the project director of the Spartan Program has disapeared with Kelly for a special project and this doesn't seem to be be important? Are they even going to continue with the books or just toss it aside, as it has seemed they have done, for the movie???

There was one reference. Sergent Johnson's return to earth was mentioned. VERY VERY briefly.

Well. We cant expect them to make reference to something that not everyone has read. It would be cool, and there are 4 or 5 spartans left, but in the end not everyone knows there are other spartans. What would you think if another spartan just appeared in the game?

You can at least tmake references to books without disturbing the integrity of the storyline, it's not my fault 70 % of halo players are illiterate *or cheat*, plus it would force those individuals to seek out and read the novels. All I'm saying is don't create an elaborate plot and stroyline if your not going to use it. Halo 1 was a storyline masterpiece, aloted together by people that love games and poured there heart and soul into it, Halo 2's storyline was weak and obviously tampered with by Producers when they realized there actually a market for the game. I can only prtay that the love and soul will returne with the end of one of the greatest stories ever told.

...gawd i love being a gamer right now...

I too was very dissapointed that there was almost NO refference to any of the VERY important events that happened in the books, which in all practicallity should have had a noticable impact in Halo 2. I really hope they fix this problem in Halo 3.

They should make it that the games do follow the books then they'd make more money becuase more people would buy the books.

Stats Don't Mean Anything If You Cheat

People who haven't read the books don't know who Dr.Halsey is and i would of thought that she is a big part of the whole halo storyline with her being involved in the SPARTAN and MJOLNIR projects i just hope there is at least a reference to her in H3 or another book comes along

the author of the halo books, work close with bungie to ensure that all series of event within the text is related to what is known as the "halo bible" which is the story of halo from story to end meaning what ever is written in the book has alot to do with whats in the game.

Yes but they have not proven that they will even relate to books by omitting details of their events in the second game... I fear the movie will be the only thing that will even relate to the books, I also fear that at best Dr. Halsey taking off with Kelly is a lame attempt at giving the deveopers a chance to make another game *or a chance to make more money* and her "Special Quest" will be forgoton... I bet the mojority of halo players believe after MC got into that longsword he went straight home....

Five Tenets of Bungie.net Forum Life:
1. Trolls will always be well fed.
2. Blame-ability thy name is stosh.
3. Bungie has no control over retail prices.
4. Watch out for low-flying defense drones.
5. Seven is not optional, but rather, an inevitability.

References? You want references ye say? How about the Arbiter being brought before the Council at the beginning of Halo 2? He was mentioned in the conversation before the Prophet of Truth and Tartarus at the end of First Strike.

And, well, that's really all I noticed. =)

I think it's possible for Bungie to introduce new characters without freaking people out. In H2 they introduced the Arbiter and basically said that his failure was responsible for the destruction of the first Halo and gave him the mark of shame; leading him to become the Arbiter. That caught everyone, who hadn't read the books, up to speed. For those of us who had read the books, we knew of him from the second book, The Flood, in which he was the Elite who was in charge of the Covenant on Halo. We had a more in depth knowledge of him since the book would describe things through his point of view. However, Bungie was able to successfully introduce him and catch people up to why he's important within one cutscene.

It would be very nice indeed to see more connections between the books and the games, the books describe sutch important events that would and should have bigger impact on the story, sutch as the other spartans and Dr. Halsey kidnapping Kelly etc, aswell as the mystical crystal with time bending capabilities.

Atleast what should be done is to Mention the other spartans, and atleast a bit more of his backstory from the books.

Actually, I think the adding of new Spartans added a cool story affect, but really, do you want to play with indestructable characters all game long? B/c you know thats what would happen, since MC is the commander of all of them. Perphaps what I'm trying to say is I thought they died off, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Halo already has a deep story, I personally would of liked the books to be less of creating new characters that only us nerds would reconize, and instead be a simple story that flows well between games. Fall of Reach was a great book, The Flood was a great story, I didn't like First Strike at all.

In those stories, I'd like to know less about the ODST soldier, the pilot, the Admiral, and Intelligence officer, the less the better! What I really want is to know about the Chief, Seargent Johnson, and Cortana. I'd like to build on those characters, not the others.

I'll give First Strike one credit, though: it introduced the new guns, which I thought was entertaining.

Navy Football #45

I have read each Halo book 7 times....I do it in school when my classes get boring. By the way, there are 4 spartans besides Master Chief: (Fred, Linda, Kelly, and Will)

Eric Nylund is currently working on a book and he is quite deep in it. I heard something about the title being "The Ghost of Coral." [who knows what Coral is, maybe a system___Example: Sol System (Earth's boundary system)]

To answer your question, yes, it would be awesome if they included the storyline from the books.

IF THEY INCLUDED SPARTANS, THEY COULD ADD THEM TO THE STORYLINE, BUT THE SPARTAN TEAM WOULD SPLIT UP AND YOU WOULD STILL PLAY BY YOURSELF. THEY COULD SHOW UP IN CUTSCENES AND STUFF. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. I'M TYPING THIS IN CAPS BECAUSE I THINK IT'S A GOOD IDEA.
