I'm wondering how many quality applications Bungie gets each month, to see how stiff the competition is. I'm sure it varies from month to month, but what would you think the average is?

The amount of applications isn't going to give you a sense of the competition. I would suspect that Bungie has extremely high expectations of applicants and potential employees. Assume very stiff.

They've had a lot of positions open for a while. Especially that economy designer role.

Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own council will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. You bring up a good point. I would have to agree with what you said, although if there are 100 applicants that are amazing vs 1, that might be a little different.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

With a high-visibility AAA developer, you'd need to know the signal-to-noise ratio of applicants rather than the sheer number.

Okay, I will rephrase the OP, how many quality applications does Bungie get?

See edits in OP :).. I bet they can count on one hand per week.

I suspect llamas are secretly wizards. I <3 poptarts n' milk. I like me. Grimick is defined as: a logical parodox, the act of funnaling a potato down your throat, and a deliciously flavored muffin (with pecons and blueberries). Norway is the Swedish word for 'moron'. My sister has cancer, so i get to use handicap parking and cut small children in line at Disneyland.

"Don't eat doughnuts on thin ice."

"The pancake, my friend, has officially been flipped."

If my calculation are correct that get anywhere between 15 and 30,000 in the average workweek. That seems correct. I think... Maybe.

I'm sure they get a lot of application. Nobody except bungie really knows, but I do have something to say; poor soul, leave him alone!

I'm sure they get a few applications that are just BS'd. But I'm also sure they get really well produced applications that meet all the requirements and above. So it's not really the question of how many people apply to Bungie a month. Most of the job requirements take six years to complete, and the first part of your portfolio will mean everything.

Why are you reading my signature? Who actually opens these things and reads them!

And as always, SEND ME A PM. Please. Or really bad things will happen to you.

You should assume that everyone else applying did at least as much work as you and probably more.
