Forget it man, and get with the countdown. Shake this square world and blast off for Kicksville.
Reach host ranking algorithm: (a*quit_percentage + b*isMexican + c*(1/KDR) + d*hasGuest) * 100
where a > b = d > c

Unless you're from Jabooty or using satellite internet then yes everyone has a relatively equal ping. I have played PC games. A server browser would allow YOU TO, GASP, CHOOSE THE BEST SERVER FOR YOU. Are you capable of picking the server which you have the lowest ping to? Are you?
And what do you do when you don't have a good ping to any servers available in your region? Assuming the publisher sees fit to provide sufficient servers for your region, of course.
I think you have a somewhat rose-tinted view of the average internet connection. Plenty of regions make the US look good. We don't all live in South Korea.
Where I live, it's rare that I get to play the gametypes I want in BF3 as soon as I'm in a party of two or more. In my experience, dedicated servers only begin to excel on the PC, when third party providers can involve themselves.
