Hey there, this topic is about Controller configuration, it will discuss some formats of different configurations and the possibility of custom settings. All of it is about the button settings.
Now, let's take what we know for Halo 3, we know that it will probably feature grenades, melee's, shooting, scoping, jumping, reloading, switching weapons, switching grenades, maybe a flashlight, a button to talk to team mates and crouching.
It might feature different melee's because of the success of beat-down styles from Halo 2.
The most ideal thing would be to be able to configure all of your buttons, but if that isn't an option then I would like to at least throw these ideas in the world.
On the 360 controller there are 2 triggers and 2 sort of triggers and we all know that people rather not let go of their thumbsticks when they want to shoot, melee, grenade, scope, jump and crouch, so how about the two triggers to the left side of you controller are melee and nading, and the ones on the right are scoping and shooting.
This gives the player so much more control then having the half-triggers being grenade switching and team chatter. The one thumbstick could then be crouching when pressed while the other can be jumping when pressed.
This means that there is just grenade switching, weapon switching, reloading and team speak to be spread over the buttons. If Team speak and grenade switching then can go on the D-pad, then you have the weapon buttons weapon switching and reloading still on the 4 buttons, which means there are still two buttons left unconfigured.
These could maybe be used for a seperate button to pick up dual wields or just other new stuff like different melee's or a button to throw down your current weapon for your team mates.
I think the 4 triggers should be used optimal and the D-pad should be given a non-weapon function as well. This way the player is more in control and battles will be more high-paced.
