scuse me for asking. what the hell is real time?

i think by real time he means that it wasnt scripted and was actually being played by a person rather than just a movie of sorts

Real Time means the trailer was using game resources to run, (Like when MC walks up to the Control Room in Halo 1) rather than being a CG rendered video. It is scripted, but it's actual game assets in use.

seriously this gets me thinking is Halo3 going to be fun; I mean if earth is already screwed whats the point, stopping the flood (boring! because we would die aswell)

How are you not happy with something you know nothing about. Halo3 has a release date of 2007 which means that theres 12 months the game can be released. Why dont you wait for some game details before you pass judgement.

Remember the e3 trailer for Halo2 was very different from the game we all know that. They did that because they didnt want people to get ideas on what the game will or could be like. Everybody expected Halo2 to be just like the trailer and we were all wrong. Now its set up to where you know the game is comming out but you dont know what the combat will or might be like.

Just be patient. 2007 is a long way away because I highly doubt it will be 1st or 2nd quarter.

You're saying they made it different just so we wouldn't know what was going to happen. Regardless of how good the demo level could have been.. How good it was. I'd rather play that level than any other level in Halo2.

One of bungie's earliest statements would be that you would traverse the galaxy in this game and go to places like the ruins of Alpha Halo, a new Halo and several forerunner stations and said that earth was only the start of your adventure. If you really want to blame someone, blame the PR/Advertisers who got everyone carried away about the Earth invasion aspect of the game. It's called a selling point. It's done in movie trailers, it's done in TV ads it's done in book summaries. The creators have much less control over how the game is advertised then you would think.

I guess I'm the only one who took that quote to heart? I always knew that Earth was only in the very begining of the game, I also knew everyone who believed all the posters and promo shots of Chief facing down hundreds of Phantoms in the streets of some unnamed Metropolis would be dissapointed.

When you really think about it, staying on earth for all of the game just isn't like Halo at all. Halo is about exploring(destroying) alien, yet inexplicably beautiful artifacts around the universe. The sense of wonder and mystery would perish if you fought in the familiar streets of Paris, New York, New Mombassa... ect for 8 levels. I'm happy that Earth in the future is revealed to be just alien to us as any Halo, that's the only way it'd be worth visiting.

No one likes a smart ass.....especially another smart ass!

OK people. Bungie didn't break any promises, because they made no promises. They showed what COULD be in the game. If something didn't work or didn't fit, they had every right to remove it or not put it in.

Stats Don't Mean Anything If You Cheat

If fighting takes place in different locations then it will all be in relation to uncovering where the ark is or how to use it but you can't judge a game by a 2 and a half minuite teaser trailer note the word "Teaser"

Wait... are you saying that there wont be any fights on Earth in H3? Because thats bullshyt, its going to be all Earth in H3 because they have to stop the Prophets from activating the Ark, which is on Earth, so H3 should be exciting to you, not a piece of shyt. I didnt like how they showed Earth fighting in H2 trailers and not have it in H2, but since they weren't in H2, then that means that they took those levels from the H2 trailers and switched them to 360 format and put them in H3. Of course we wont know til later so just chillax.

Are you addressing me or someone else? I'm almost certain Earth will be the most intense battleground in the whole trilogy in Halo 3, the kind that was advertised in the Halo 2 promos. It makes sense considering how much Halo 3 is just a stretched out version of the last three levels of Halo 2 that were cut, or it will incorporate those three levels.

The invasion in Halo 2 was just Regret's little expedition to dig up the Ark, it failed when he tried to blitzkrieg through Earths defenses. The Loyalist covenant are going to pull out all the big guns to get to the Ark, the Seperatists are going to do the same to stop the loyalists as will the Flood and Humans. I predict it'll be one hell of a fight.

You will get your earth battles as well as battles from other locations. We all now the arbiter is going to make a return SO, it will nake sense to vary the missions just like in halo 2. But who knows we STILL have 12 months till this game gets relised (spelling). Queue flameing.

I'm so scandalous =)~

Everyone is getting carried away about vehicles and what not.

Halo 3 is a cop out to what Halo 2 stood for: the fight for Earth. 3 levels later....poof! What happened to the fight for earth? Remember that e3 footage showcasing the giant scarab cannon reigning down on the city with the chief walking around talking and seeing the marines? Moore at that show did nothing but embellish the fact that there will be an epic battle on Earth and defending your home: and it did not live up to that E3 press conference. so NO i dont blame PR/Advertising because they weren't the ones onstage. It was Moore himself.

And they already staged officially in halo 3 news that Halo 3 would take place after earth was ravaged......So I do infact know something about this game. It copped out. That's all I'm saying.

Hey Kempatsu,

Maybe I'm a little confused, but you post about the H3 trailer being a cop out, and then start complaining, basically, about Halo 2 not being like the E3 demo of Halo 2. Isn't that a little, uh, TIRED by now? And you continue to rant about H2 not being Earth.....

It is a teaser trailer, and like the now mythic H2 demo, it doesn't guarantee what's gonna be in the final game. The trailer doesn't show Earth being ravaged. It shows a desert with some wreckage. It shows a canyon with a bunch of Covenant stuff. It does not show Earth being glassed, so what are you freaking out about?

I watch the H3 trailer, and it plays like fan service to me. People thought H2 looked a bit cartoony at times, the trailer shows a darker style. People missed the assault rifle, so you see the Chief sporting a new one. And Bungie being Bungie, they load the demo with all kinds of little touches, just to see how the fan base reacts. Or overreacts in your case.
It's just a trailer, nothing more. You should at least wait until you play the final, finished version of the game before you decide that Bungie copped out. Watching the trailer and making your view of the game as a cop out.........well that's kind of cop out in itself.

I am personally glad that there were only a few levels on earth on halo2 . Doesn't anyone wlse think that it wouldn't feel like halo anymore if it all took place on earth. I hope that there are a bunch of earth based levels in halo 3 but I dont want the majority of the levels to be on earth. Part of halo is to be on unknow alien worlds.

Halo 1 was fun becuse there was no expectations. Halo 2 had alot of hype and expectations, bungie rushed it. ( they even said that). The game was fun but got boring. Halo 3 is just announced. It will come out, but there is nothing else onthe game besides the AR or sometype of it might be in the game. Lets pass judgement in 2007. After bungie tells us whats in the game and what couldnt make it.

Halo 2 was rushed.
Now they have started making halo 3 since halo 2 was finished so that is already a year and like 6 months, halo 3 is to released in year 2007 so that would be like two years making a game with many people working on it, I am sure we can expect for halo 3 to be the best game ever.

Halo 3 Multiplayer Group

The main aim of this group is to express our ideas on how to improve Halo multiplayer in the next game.

1) NO LOCKING ANY THREADS
2) No more searching through pages and pages to see if your topic has already been discussed
3) Stickies are updated as more ideas flow in, so you dont have to read a whole thread, just read the top post!

Do you know anything about video game development at all? I'm sure you're still pissed because they took out the ATV as well? Developers change the game as they're making it so things can work out. The other warthogs had no use in Halo 2, so they didn't see the reason of putting them in there. Did Bungie EVER make a formal announcement that the entire game was going to be fought on Earth? No, they never did. They Bungie EVER make a formal announcement that there were going to be four warthogs? No, they never did. Bungie kept everything quiet and this is the exact reason why. They didn't want little kids complaining about them announcing stuff that never got in there. You see some tidbits on some sight not even related to Bungie and then you bash the game because they weren't in there. If it's not from Bungie, it's not official. So quit your -blam!-ing and wait until the real details start being announced before you start bashing the game.

Correction. Bungie ran out of time to put all that stuff in the game. It's not that they didn't want to, just fans demanded the game be out too soon.

I started this thread on the subject of it being a cop out and suddenly, im not supposed to be writing about it, in my own thread? T'yeah, ok. Tons of sense-making going on ::rolls eyes::

I'm just stating the facts. Thats all....and whats with these "cut my wrists", "boo hoo go home" flames? Hysterical. I'm flattered.
