This has probably been asked before but you cannot ask people to read every thread before posting, so I will ask it anyway: Do you think the Chief will go back in time in Halo 3?

I ask this because I came across this conversation in the Halo: CE script.

When the Chief askes the Monitor will destroy all life:

Monitor: More or less. Technically this installation's pulse has a maximum
effective radius of twenty five thousand light years, but once the others
follow suit, this galaxy will be quite devoid of life, or any least any life
with sufficient biomass to sustain the Flood...But you already knew that, I
mean, how couldn't you?

Cortana: Left out that little detail, did he?

Monitor: We have followed our outbreak containment procedure to the letter.
You were with me each step of the way as we managed this crisis.

Cortana: Chief, I'm picking up movement.

Monitor: Why would you hesitate to do what you have already done?

Cortana: We need to go right now!

Monitor: Last time you asked me if it were my choice would I do it. Having had
considerable to time to ponder your query my answer has not changed. There is
no choice. We must activate the ring.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

No, simply becuase Bungie said they don't like time travel. So I doubt that they'll have it in Halo 3.

The forerunners might have built a time machine.

I think 343 Guilty Spark's comments refer to Master Chief and the humans' similarities to the Forerunners.

simple explanation: the arbiter is speaking of the previous reclaimer who activated the halos before the master chief did hundreds of thousands of years later.
