Subject: Why do threads like these in the flood go on for so long?

Who the hell do you think I am?

This thread right here.

It took more than 90 replies for a forum ninja to lock it, when it should have been locked instantly from the title alone. I always see spam threads get locked instantly on The Flood, but why does it seem like threads that break the rules the worst go on for so long?

Take that recent MLP thread for example. That was what, more than 600 replies of nothing but flaming and hatred? It was even up for a couple days, and not a single ninja even bothered to look in it? This has been happening a lot recently.

I'm sure there's a good explanation. So please, someone explain this to me.

Key

Explanation: Mod who thinks it infringes on the rules, CoC, etc. doesn't see it until the point in time at which it's locked. Up until then, it continues to "go on (for so long)".

26 minutes is not long; I don't think the problem is with the moderators' speed, but the flood's.

Mods can't be on 24/7 is the only reason I can assume.

Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

My assumption is the Ninja's simply don't enjoy going to the Flood and it's umbrella of basically everything other than Bungie.

Well it does need to be the most heavily moderated, since it is the most active forum on this entire site, and due to the fact being it an off topic forum, it's basically what the trolls see to be an easy target.

What if we had like a billion mods? Then they would.

I think you're slightly inflating the number of participants on the Bungie.net forums...

In this specific case it appears the OP was reported enough for it to be collapsed. However, on a general scale, I agree.

Moderators sometimes miss things. It happens.

I seem to recall a large thread in the flood back in 07/08 pertaining to whether or not the big bang or god created the universe, and it was on the top topics list for quite a while. It had hundreds of pages and I believe Ash finally came in and said he wasnt sure how he missed this for so long, and that if he ever got a "Ban Everyone In Thread" button he would come back and do it there. Ill try to find a link.

EDIT:

It was Pezz, and it was 44 pages long. My memory isnt as perfect as it once was

"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

You're assuming that we are always online, which is not the case. Secondly, while I and I'm sure many others enjoy the Flood, I particularly don't care for MLP stuff. I never noticed anything in the queue related to that MLP thread, so I figured nothing was wrong in it.

The report button is there for a reason. Use it.

Makes sense. It is a more active forum. Lots of replies in a short window is possible for those people.

Maybe a better example would be in the Reach forums.

I think this thread in the Reach forums was posted about 6 hours ago or so. It is still not locked, and has 83 replies. A hot topic about nothing, yet people continue to post in it.

Why not just ignore the idiotic threads and continue on while the ninjas do their thing?
