In my opinion multiple people joining in on a fad is more of a problem, and I really do consider most spam as fads. If a single person goes around posting spam then they can easily be blacklisted; problem solved. It's when multiple people join in on these fads that it becomes a problem.
Start banning people for it however, and it will stop. Well, not completely, but still. And that's why people need to report posts to make the ninjas aware!
Fair point, but not relevant when it's obvious they were doing it in a spam kind of way. They had no intentions of helping the OP in that thread.
If they wanted to help, they would've at least linked to correct page like another user did. But let's not get too involved with the one example in my OP. It happens in a lot of different threads - usually when they contain the words "Microsoft" or "Xbox".The users in that thread were having a bit of fun. You need to draw a line between "having fun" and spam though, but then I'm sure everybody has a different opinion on where that line should be. I know "Xbox.com" has been used as, what would be considered by the majority, spam in other threads too.
Okay now that thread has been revived and I consider it spam. >.<
And yes I did report it.
