  • 01.19.2012 5:40 PM PDT

8/5/08 Bungie Favorites- NoEnd
7/1/09 Bungie Favorites- RECON Devil
9/9/09 Bungie Favorites- Champion
5/22/10 HaloCharts Favs- Prey

That'd be interesting. Two Flood armies each controlled by a separate Gravemind, I wonder if the two armies would fight each other?

Do not waste your tears, I was not born to watch the world grow dim. Life is not measured in years, but by the deeds of men.

We should know better, because we are better.

Primordium directly states there were several graveminds at a time. More than one gravemind is possible.

Not neccessarily true. There ware multiple proto-graveminds froming at and before the release of the flood from 04. The very fist proto-gravemind was encounterd by The Spirit of Fire and judging from it's size, was about to become a full-fledged gravemind. I personally believe that the proto-graveminds on Truth and Reconcilliation and The Mona Lisa were a different kind of gravemind, one that just controlled the host ship.

I had the misfortune of watching The Mona Lisa while I was waiting to go back on duty. I had actually repressed it from my memory. Cheers for bringing it back up!

Can't argue with what you are saying though.

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

March 3, 2553

No. There are probably tonnes of graveminds in the galaxy.

"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." - Albert Einstien

I think the Flood on the first Halo were isolated from the Gravemind and therefore tried to construct their own (of which would have been obsorbed by the larger Gravemind upon reuniting with it).

I HATE NOOBS

There is way more than two graveminds there could be like 20 on one planet. On halo wars you go on a flood planet each tentacle you see come out of the ground is a gravmind.A gravemind is a large mass a objects obtained and obsorbed by a large flood mass.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

There has never been a rule for only a single Gravemind at a time... In fact, the Bestiarum states that multiple Graveminds can merge together to form a more advanced being. And it seems that the Precursors are advanced Graveminds.

The idea that there could only be 1 Gravemind came from the Encyclopedia I think, but I'll have to check. In any case, it said that in theory there could be only 1, so to answer your question OP, no, there can be more then 1. They're a race all their own--10 of them existed on Installation .07.

Most likely not. The Flood can only take over living bodies. It's like a zombie going up and trying to "infect" another zombie by biting it. It just doesn't work. What would be funny, though, is if they tried and the effects canceled each other out. Some guy just becomes un-infected right in the middle of this huge Flood v. Flood battle... haha, he'd be so freaked out...

I think you need to play Halo 3. The Flood can infect dead bodies, use their biomass for other purposes or whatever they choose.

One of the first tactics the Flood use in Halo 1--short of Zerg rushing--is gathering bodies of both dead Covies and Flood to be later infected. Really so long as it's biological, it's prone to infection.

You are right about the dead bodies thing, I guess, but have you ever seen a flood try to infect another attacking flood? It would be like trying to crowd another brain in there.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

Brain Forms are for collecting intelligence and sending it back to the Gravemind, or for regrowing the Gravemind at its location, obviously for tactical reasons.
