I was thinking bout Halo 3 and I thought about the health bar from Halo 1. And i want your ideas if the health bar should return or if your should just have straight up shields?

I read this yesterday from somebody but I think it would be cool to have a recharging health meter but maybe have the healthpacks charge your health quicker or something.

If Team Swat became ranked, would there still be no shields?

Amazing!

I'm here to kick ass and chew bubble gum...and I'm all out of bubble gum.

Heh.

Anyways, Halo 2's system worked fine for me. Better, in fact. In Halo 1, you're shields go down and you have to wait a year for them to recharge. Halo 2, they go up, you take cover, they recharge, simple. Besides, unless they reworked the health system, it'd be useless. I didn't like the health. Went down too easily. It was more like a last ditch effort to stay alive.

Why do we need a health bar? I'm sure I'm not the only person who's constantly concerned with ammunition and health when I play games. It would kind of dampen the multiplayer experience for me, always running around, taking note of health pack locations and how much health I had. That's probably why I didn't enjoy playing Halo's multiplayer very much.

Speaking of health pack locations, it would be come a camping spot. People would take position in the area, have a couple of their buddies run around and wound people, and then kill the unsuspecting player(s) when they went to heal up.

I say keep the same health system from Halo 2. I never had to worry about keeping my shiny blue bars, just the charge of my shield. After a couple minutes of combat, a few seconds of recharging would ensure that I'd be fit for the next battle.

Maybe a system of regenerating health, much like the Health bar in the original Halo only your health comes back over time.

I think it makes more sense to have the health bar with the shield. Essentially, the shield is an extension on the damage he can take. He's still a man underneath it all. In terms of gameplay, it makes a lot more sense.

You face an opponent who has never known defeat, who laughs in foreign tongues at your efforts to survive. This is Reply suicide.

I like the idea of health bars.

They were pretty good in the first one. You couldn't just run away and find cover and be healthy again. You had to hunt down a health pack and hope it wasn't guarded.

I would suggest having health packs strewn about the level again, except more of them, so it's harder to camp them all.

I do know that people used to camp the crap out of the health packs.

But at least when you had "health" you had to camp either a weapon or a healthpack. You couldn't just camp an area of the map and then hide to recharge your shields.

It would definately balance the game a bit more to put those health bars back in.

ESPECIALLY FOR VEHICLE WHORES!

Ha ha.

I would rather have a health bar because even in Halo 2 you had a set amount of health once your shield went down, you just couldnt see it, ever notice how its harder to win a BR fight once youve already gotten in one that took your shields completely down and then some? I would rather see the health bar than just having to guess at how much health i had left...

when Halo 2 came out i thought the whole no health bar idea was pretty retarded, but now ive gotten used to it, i dont even think about it anymore, maybe its because Halo 2 noobifies better players....IMO

Have the health bar appear as the shield goes down. It will be covered as the shield recarges, so you wont see the health go back up and you'll be able to tell just how close to death you are.

I actually liked the Health Bar. It was just invisible in Halo 2, but people thought that your health recharged. That was just because you had so little of it. Even if we can still only take two shots with no shields, I would at least like to know that I'm injured. I seem to try harder when death is closer.

But that's the thing: in Halo 2, when your shields were down, you were always walking that razor-thin edge between survival and respawning. You didn't know when the final shot would come, but you were damn determined to ensure that it didn't.

I think the only way the health bar should return is if they have medics, because I think health packs are unrealistic and I rather see that trend die off from video games.

No, health packs would plague the maps and it's not nessisary.

Help a brother out. Click on the referral link, sign up for a fun game, log in once for the next couple of days, then you never have to think about it again!

And yes. I understand how pathetic that is, but nobody reads these things anyway... right?

I think there should not be a health bar. My reasoning is simple: The healthbar would be just one more thing clouding up the HUD, You look at it and go "Oh hey! I only have half life left!". Even knowing that, what can you do about it? and how many times do you ever really survive enough fights in a row for a little bit of health besides your shield would really matter? I also agree in the fact that medpacks would clog up the maps and are just unnecesary.

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.
Teach a man religion, and he will starve to death praying for a fish.

No health bar, that's just one more thing to watch on your HUD and one more thing to worry about.
