It just dawned on me whilst I was playing the maw today. The gravemind controls 2401 penitant tangent right? well, being an unknown forerunner AI, im sure cortana would not be able to identify 2401 tapping into her systems (as guilty spark did in THE MAW)cortana mentions a 'presence' in the system during the last half of the game. Is this Penitant? im pretty convinced
gravemind doesn't 'control' 2401 penitant tangent, he just holds it captive.
Well, guilty spark was pretty intent on killing the chief & purging cortana was he not? Im sure gravemind could convince 2401 to affect Cortana
Guilty Spark was only out to kill the Chief because he was in the way of firing Halo Ring 04. Now that Instilation 04 is destroyed, 343GS doesn't have a purpose. He's not out to kill MC, and he's not going to go out of his way to "exact revenge" or anything silly like that. His enemy is, and always has been the Flood.
