Give me an example of someone who does not play for fun.
I guarantee that if you can give one that I can't prove otherwise, they are a very small if not barely existent minority.
Any famous MLG player.
Any tryhard.
It could be argued that "famous" MLG players play for the money, but if you don't think they have fun in the process you're probably wrong. If you think that they started their lives out and said "I'm going to make bank as an MLG player" you're probably wrong again. At some point they were just people like you and me, playing this game for enjoyment, and discovered that they were good enough at it to get paid on the side. A lot of them are teenagers who would be playing videogames regardless of whether or not some guys are paying them. Because they enjoy playing.
Even if they have played exclusively for the money, from the beginning of time, and don't have any fun during games whatsoever, money -> buying whatever you want -> fun.
Tryhards "try hard" to win because they think winning is fun.

On a side note, I've never really understood the term "tryhard." I know what people think it means, but does it really make any sense? I'm fairly good at this game, and I'm usually playing to the fullest of my abilities. Why wouldn't I? It's not like this game requires physical effort or some sort of mental exercise to be good, and it's not like playing poorly is going to be fun, so why would I not do the best that I can at all times?
