Subject: The way of the Notorious Mop-up Artist(s). Are you one?

One of the Founding Fathers of The Jokers Clan.

This topic should be found to be a little more humorous than my last one, I'm sure many of you can relate to this.

What is a Mop-up Artist?
You could be one.
Like a person mopping a floor they clean everything up. They are people we hate and love, but mostly love due to their team commitment. Everyone has encountered them, some of your friends might be one. They are the individuals in Halo Reach (or any other multiplayer games for that matter) who actively hunt and eliminate opponents in multiplayer matchmaking game who are already in a weakend state. Thereby collecting kill points without doing the work.
We all know that in most multiplayer matchmacking playlists the games mechanics are in full swing. Meaning you often have to bring down an opponents shield before you can deliver a death blow. Sometimes bringing the shield down is hard work, and sometimes its easy when you can no-scope a headshot with the sniper rifle. Though not many of us can do that.
Here is a scenario.
Your in a multiplayer matchmaking game 4v4 or whatever. You decide to go off on your own away from your team in hopes to flank the enemy team or to acquire a heavy weapon before someone else. You soon encounter a lone opponent spartan by himself with no backup. You decide to engage and attempt to eliminate him before more of his team spawn on him. You fire your weapon once within effective range but he sees you aswell and fires back. A close range scuffle ensues. After many heart-wrenching manuveurs you take in order to break his shield down and aviod dying yourself, you finally eliminate his shield. As you ready yourself to deliver the final blow (bear in mind all this is happening within an instant) BOOM!!! Out of nowhere comes an ally who takes the kill for himself. Leaving you nothing more than an assist medal. WHAT THE HELL MAN?!
That is the way of the Notorious "Mop-up Artist". These individuals go game after game using this technique. Its how they posses such a superior kill/death ratio.
This sort of thing wouldn't bother me if the Mop-up Artist could bring a med pack with him so I can recover from my scuffle. And sometimes it is annoying but often funny aswell.
I'm sorry for this being so long, but I hope I have re-awakend repressed memories and emotions of encounters like this that you may have experienced. If so please share the names of your friends who you feel are Mop-up Artists. If you are one don't be ashamed to admit it.
As for me, my friend: VON DOOM29
The biggest Mop-up Artist I've ever known.

I just put shots on anyone I see, regardless of their shields.

So basically... Waypoint is pro-vanilla?

Waypoint isn't pro-anything so much as they're just anti-intelligence.

It's a team game, deal with it. A lot of players actually appreciate these types of people because they help contribute to a solid win.

"In Halo 3 not all 50's were good players, but all good players were 50's."

Your opinion is invalid.

I'd be happy to get a player like this on my team. If you clean up my kills and respond to my call outs then you're cool with me.

Hahaha, I love this topic. Because I've had games where I swear 20 of my 25 kills (Squad Slayer) were mop up kills. I'm even holding the same grenades I spawned with. And I'm left wondering if I'm the only person that actually aims for the head with the DMR, while kids are complaining in the lobby afterward that I stole their kills.

Look, when someone says a person is one shot? They're talking about putting one in the head, not their chest/legs/knees/back.

If you can't shoot someone in the head, go play Swat like I did for a 1,000 games. I guarantee you'll figure out what a headshot is then.

Always up for REACH customs!

Looks like someone's mad at his teammates for being good teammates. What are you supposed to do, take turns?

Indeed it is a team game.
Team Slayer, Team Objective, Team Snipers, ETC are just that. Team games. Whether i get the kill, or you do, it adds a point for your team.(Purposely yoink-ing a team mate is somthing totally different. The majority of purposeful yoink-ers, are generaly the people on your team who get few kills, and need an opponent unable to shoot back)

Here's a typical scenario: You see a team mate in a heated battle with a member of the opposite team. You notice the team mate might not win the battle.

If you help out, and finish the kill, your team mate will complain that you stole his kill. If you do nothing, your team mate dies, then complains that you let him die.

So in short, i am a "mopper". You're welcome. And please, feel free to finish a kill for me.
