Subject: How to Force the IWHBYD Skull to Spawn, Guaranteed

The big pain in the butt with the IWHBYD skull is, if it doesn't spawn you have to start over. Maybe you have to start over 2 times or maybe 12 times, you don't know. The reason you have to start over instead of reverting is that it's common knowledge that you cannot revert back to the sniper alley CP and hope to get the skull. You can never get the skull if it doesn't appear so you must start over.

So I stumbled upon a way to replace the sniper alley CP so we can now revert back to the new CP in order to spawn the skull. This means, if the skull doesn't show, don't dispair, Grumpy's got your back. Just revert to my CP just before sniper alley and you will get the skull within a few tries.

Both times in my vid it took me less that 7 minutes to spawn the skull and it works every time. The 1 in 7 chance is still working and it's only a matter of a few quick restarts to spawn it.

I suggest getting Perma-Cammo for this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVZmi0TrrVY

Also, to get rid of perma-cammo for the fight just activate Envy again and perma-cammo will be eliminated.

I thought it was a guaranteed spawn every time?

Anyways, I'm off. I just took some numbers from the H3 campaign maps and implemented them into my H2 Arbiter mod. Now I gotta test it.

I never said that was for sure, remember.

It turns out that it's a guaranteed spawn every time you go to get the skull, no ejection, or turning off the machine and the CP is set close to the skull so it's a matter of several reverts. So far, I've never gone more than 3 reverts. On 7 different tries with 7 different profiles I averaged less than 6 minutes to get the skull from start to finish, not counting getting perma-cammo.

What I don't know at this point is why they are all coming so soon. 4 of the times trying for the skull I got it first time with this method. It seems to be giving it out more often with this setup.

Well I took a look this morning. I thought the cp at HZ had to be delayed for the skull to spawn. I didn't know that the skull could be gotten with a cp at HZ. So does the method shown in the video stop the 3 marines from disappearing?

I can't get those marines to stay no matter what I've tried. Could be an xbox thing but if the 2 marines at HZ do not deload, 2 marines are missing at the Pelican drop. If the 3 marines stay, then the 2 Marines deload at HZ. I'm only talking about the 2 Marines that spawn after the HZ steps CP, the 2 in front will stay easily. I can't say I've tried everything. Sometimes all the Marines stay but deload when I go get the Hog to preserve them.

Bottom line is I can't get more than 3 to permanently stay at HZ and also keep the 3 Marines at the Pelican drop permanently.

Also, yeah, any CP inserted just before the sniper alley CP will work. Putting the CP so close to the sniper alley CP messes it up so that most of the time the sniper alley CP doesn't come at all. I still have to figure out why the skull comes so frequently, or if it's just my imagination.

This cleared up a few things. otherwise good video. I will make note of this when I get to that profile. Currently going after the essential skulls (Black Eye, Sputnik and Envy).

Will report back.

Damn. Those 3 marines are what stopped me from attempting the OS AI collecting. I hate it when I lose even 1 AI.

It's intriguing, that's for sure.

Agreed.

As I said on the video, this worked like a charm. I'm now ready to attempt SLASO next week....

I'm pretty sure it's because of Reach. It takes a lot of the spotlight when it comes to Halo games. Hence why I'm retiring soon. I just can't compete with it.

Be on the lookout for my Halo 2 Vista mod release. ;)

You don't need to compete with it SG. Reach fans will always be around as will Halo 2 fans. Its not about the subs or views, its about keeping people interested with Halo 2. I remember when I saw a H3 video showing how to build a cruiser in forge. It had only around 90 views at most, but despite thee popularity of the video, it changed my mind about H3 and made me want to buy it. And I did when I could finally afford it. Point is, keep the newbies coming back to Halo 2 with ambitions of doing what you, grumpy and all other glitchers out there do.

And trust me, I know because I was an avid Reach fan. But Grumpy showcased some amazing things and I came back to Halo 2. And I love it as much as I first did when I bought it. So if it wasn't for him showing some awesome glitches and keeping me interested, I wouldn't be on this forum typing this post.

No they won't lol

No but seriously, I just don't see people still playing Reach 5-10 years from now, weather its online, xbc or LAN like people still do with CE and H2 to this day.

Halo fans that have been around awhile simply do not like it (yeah thats a pretty bland, generalized statement) competitive players don't like it (other than maybe ZBNS MLG now) and campaign guys don't really like it because how much can you actually do in Reach's campaign? not much because they put up a ton of barriers, that limit our freedom. Players like that freedom, to do what they want, to explore etc.

But casuals do, because it was "catered" towards them. Casuals move on to the next new game that comes out, always will. I simply don't see anyone playing Reach 5-10 years from now. Reach videos get more views because its simply the newest Halo game out.

But anyway, I liked the rest of your post. Was actually somewhat touching lmao.

When I talk about views an subs, I simply mean I like what they do an think its great and wish more people that were interested in it got to see it to appreciate it btw.

I have underlined the problem. People like the artificial. Graphics, graphics, graphics. Multiplayer, multilplayer, multiplayer. If it weren't for CEA, would the new players be playing CE? Probably not, unless they were avid Halo fans.

Hence why H2 Anny must not be new graphics for campaign and newer mp and firefight with achievements. It needs to throw in new stuff and new features or it will become a gimmick like CEA: a joke SLASO (best to leave it alone), difficult challenges once completed, people won't want to do them again, easy skulls (Bandanna), vast number of graphical glitches and a graphics layer that doesn't fit smoothly

Campaign is superseded by mp and newer games unless something very impressive is done in it (SLASO, speedruns, huge AI battles, tricking). My AI collections in H2 take quite the time but to everyone else, it looks easy and pointless.

Not just barriers and linear gameplay. There's also the lack of cps, the disappearing AI, the territorial AI, the pathetic sword Elites, the repetitious combat.

I used to think that of H2 but it's even worse in Reach. H2 is way better. I got a cp after getting the Phantom Covies on The Arbiter.

Well I think the H2 forum is enough for me. There was a time when I was concerned with subscribers and views and ratings. Now I just post them here, only making them public for my current subscribers.

I just got a checkpoint on the last Elite on the last wave and I did it by design. I've noticed over the years that if I keep playing and dying that after 3 or 4 times a checkpoint will come, almost like a gift for dunces who can't get the job done.

So I set up a fight with perma-cammo on and I killed all but the last one and then I waited for a CP. When it didn't come I had the AI kill me. Then I did it all over again and when I got to the last guy I waited again. On the 3rd time of waiting the CP came so it is marvelous. This will really help when you want to play SLASO.

We need to see if this is a justified pattern so I need a couple of volunteers to do exactly what I did to see how many times it takes to get a CP. Just remember it is not a revert, I kept dying on purpose, however, maybe just reverting would work too.

So I have several saves that have just the skull, before the fight and I have one save on the last guy before the text...sweet!

Does this mean I just have to get punished a lot at the hangar on CS to get that cp?! Or is this level specific? I MUST HAVE THAT CP!

I could volunteer but I might do it later because I just spent an hour typing out interesting details regarding the Covenant AI collection in H3 and I'm exhausted.

And there's nothing more delightful than having multiple game saves. It's just a shame that it's not encouraged on the Xbox 360...

Do it whenever you want, no rush. I just want some data at some point just to see if I should advise others to try it.

Edit: yes, I believe you will get a CP there unless you die too quickly. Try getting to a point where you want the CP and then just wait for 15 minutes, then have them kill you and try it again and get to the same point and then wait for 15 minutes. If it doesn't come have them kill you and try again. I'd say if it doesn't come by 4 or 5 tries, it will never come.
