"Find where the liar hides, so that I may place my boot between his gums!" - Rtas 'Vadum

Problem, Cortana is MIA. Unless she gave all the information of the AJ when they were briefly on Earth, then MAYBE scientists could help on that. Our best bet though is the forerunner technology found on 03 and Oynx. Hell, we could use some engineers like Vergil to help in the construction of a faster FTL drive.

It only makes sense for her to have transferred all that information to the UNSC. A large part of First Strike was about the urgency of getting Cortana back to the UNSC for that purpose, and she spent a few weeks at Earth before Halo 2 began I am sure. First Strike ends on September 13th due to the time-space anomaly, and Halo 2 begins on the 20th of October. Plenty of time. It is not just the info from the AJ either, but all the info that she took from the Core of Alpha Halo too, whatever that may include.

Plenty of time to transfer the data but is it enough time to understand it?

Doubtful

And there lies the problem. We know the UNSC has access to Forerunner knowledge, that much is undeniable. But for them to understand it so quickly is ludicrous.

Not very long, they were getting close to reaching Tier 1 with all the Forerunner tech they were finding. Had the Covenant not showed up, they would have been at Tier 2 or Tier 1 in 2553. They also had access to Onyx and Installation 03.

Um, no, are you really that stupid? The UNSC wasn't anywhere near tier two technology as of that time. Onyx was locked up tighter than Ted bundy's cell and They only Recently found 03.

This.

Folks, let me remind you. UNSC is Technology Tier 3, period. Achieving to Tier 1 will take long time. They has to achieve those feats like Forerunners did. Destroying stars, having a warrior craft that is capable of destroying entire continents, causing stellar collapses, a utter complete mastery over slip space travel, take possession of millions of world, etc.

No, it won't take few years. It will take at least a hundred or two hundred years to arrive that Tier 1 or 2.

The ancient humans were close to Tier one though. I know this has nothing to do with the topic, but I'm just saying.

To be honest, when I first saw all this in the weekly update I thought 2 things.
#1- there is an actual legendary ending but,
#2- No matter what anyone does,(kill all the bobs, hit all switches etc) that until the "time" mentioned in "There'll be another time..." is reached there won't be a legendary ending.

The weekly update by bungie has slowed my hardcore search for what unlocks the legendary ending.

Humanity is a supremely intelligent species. We learned about things faster than almost any other species around.

Don't oversell that, if people were so Smart they would be on ONI's and Ackerson's Ass for the Spartan Projects, not Halsey.

Actually, according to Halo Nation, the humans already reached covenant and even forerunner tech in fact. That was thousands of years ago though.
