I'm aware of the xbox LIVE arcade remastering of Marathon: Durandal but imagine Durandal as a proper, high-quality competitor in today's FPS market. I mean, if it retained the environments, storyline and obvious things like that but it was made so modern that it would be of standards as high as other shooters today. Examples:
- Graphics equal to, let's say Halo: Reach
- An awesome soundtrack?
- Better enemy animations
- Less "square" environments
- Excellent use of lighting
- Epic skyboxes
- Real "feeling" to the weapons (recoil, vibration etc.)
- Terminals with voice over (read to you) where available
- Proper swimming animations and water effects
- Reloading (pretty crazy but it could be done with effort)
- Fists used to really punch enemies hard with a feeling of impact
- Jumping, proper climbing stairs etc.
- Upgraded HUD
- Online multiplayer (pushing it, but still)
I'm not suggesting this but rather asking you, how well would Marathon: Durandal do if it was completely modernised for this generation of gaming in today's FPS market? How cool would the trailers be? If you had no prior knowledge to it, would you consider buying it?
