I've always wondered what it is/means, and why it is apparantly better in Reach than Halo 3. If someone could tell me I'd be greatly appreciated, then we can let this thread die.

it's not better. If it where then 40mb up woulde always get host over some red-yellow bar dial up host.

netcode == networking code.

The sub-layer of the game which communicates with other players and the reach servers.

And no, not better - despite the promises and the 'fake' beta testing that resulted in no change. Packets are actually bigger than before and much of the overlay has been removed. And in the UDP world of packet loss this was just an odd direction.

Guess bungie went "last game, meh ... but lets not do this in our new title".
