Subject: Sniping tips please

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

I seriously CANT snipe. Not just in Halo, in all shooters I play, I cannot snipe.

A while ago, I suddenly became reasonably good at sniping, I was getting quite a lot of kills. Now, I just cant do it.

So to any good snipers, any tips would be very much appreciated :)

Practice, my friend, practice.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

One thing that may or may not help you is make sure you turn vibration off on your controller. It may make you twitch less when you take shots.

Other than that, it is just practice. Get some friends and play Octagon with snipers. Eventually, it will touch up your aim.

If you don't get enough practice in MM try going into firefight and only using the sniper. Its not as good as a real person but atleast they are moving and their heads are at different heights. Start with accuracy and then go for speed.
I'm no master, but I think it will help.

GrownPrism is NOT my gt. Happened when signing into my xbox live account. My real gt is here:

You can't really "teach" aiming, you just have to get better at it. Practice it and eventually you'll improve.

  • 01.20.2012 11:53 AM PDT

Lol

Practice with the sniper a lot. That's pretty much the only way to improve.

  • 01.20.2012 11:54 AM PDT

Make sure an enemy is going generally slow or else a headshot is pretty difficult.

Don't go for bodyshots because 2 shots is just bad.

If it's Sniper V. Sniper NEVER stand still.

Go into Firefight and practice. I used ODST's FF to help me get better at no-scoping in H3 and it worked.

It just takes practice and knowing how to keep your reticle level and strafe it into your opponents. Being a smart sniper though has to be learned from playing more competitive games.

Also, don't practice in Matchmaking unless its FFA or Firefight. Nobody wants the bad sniper on their team picking up the sniper. (No offense)

Use your left stick to aim more than your right. Bring your enemy into the reticule.

Watching pro's sniping gameplay, after a while you just see yourself replicating their moves. You also eventually learn what to do in certain situations like when to quickscope or when to wait for them to walk into the part of the reticule.

I have seen you future

Like other people said try firefight. Use sniperfight because it gives you infinite ammo, so you will get lots of practice. First get accurate, then get fast, then learn to move, and without a scope.

Pretty sure you need it off. It helps. Vibration is for people who cannot pay attention IMO. make sure you at least try to aim for the head always to quickly dispatch people especially in Halo.

Turning the vibration off does not help me, it makes me play worse. Simply because I expect it to vibrate when I shoot and at other times. How is it for people who can't pay attention? What is that nonsense?
