Subject: Why do people complain about people having a melee TOD

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

What do you expect people to do, just not melee when they can?

If I am in a situation where I can melee for a kill, I will go for a melee. I wont bother wasting ammo to get a 'skilful' kill when I can easily get an easier melee kill.

I agree

melee = just silly i think
i agree with the point you make
but my personal opinion is that i hate melee

  • 01.20.2012 1:27 PM PDT

Not your average noob

Because most people that do have it as their TOD double melee all the time

Players with thumbs don't need two magnetic lunges to get kills.

It is faster to kill them with a DMR/Needle Rifle before they can get that close.

You want a sandwich? Sure. As long as you don't mind me putting poison in it.

Yeah. I use the AR, so what? All you can do is scream and rage about me using the weapon.

I got hated just because I use the AR. If it's in the game I'll use it.

Nobody can stop you from beating anyone down. All they can do is scream and rage about it.

Well cuz DMR more skill and u don't use it so no skill see simple

And why should I have to waste ammo for a skilful kill when meleeing will still get me the kill and save ammo?

Melee ToD to me suggests mindless AR rushing and a general lack of skill. Melee is, in some situations, the best option, but I would expect a talented player to have far more DMR kills than melee kills because there's simply not that many extreme CQC situations per game.

Yes, when players are a reasonable distance away i use a DMR, but if i walk around the corner and an enemy comes around, I will melee, or if a player runs up behind me to assassinate me, I turn around and melee

I have DMR as my first TOD and melee as my second TOD

A melee followed up with a headshot is still faster than a double melee. The only way you are guaranteed to win a pummel fight is if you got the first hit. Even if you win, you will probably be without a shield. Then, smart players hanging back with DMRs will put you back to the respawn screen.

Precisely. I like to consider myself above average and I have 27,000 DMR kills compared to 4,900 melee kills. Mainly because I try not to rush at my enemy but let them come to me.

Which makes a fair amount of sense.

I hate double pummel.

But what I can't stand is seeing pummel as ToD in the Sniper or SWAT playlist...

I did get a double melee kill in snipers the other day. But in my defence, the guy didnt even notice me running towards him. I think that if people who player snipers and SWAT dont want to be double pummelled they should be more careful

That applies to any game type. I am careful. Obviously, there are instances in which you need to pummel. But as a ToD...I think it shows that maybe a playlist where you're supposed to go for headshots just isn't for you.

  • 01.20.2012 1:42 PM PDT

One of the rare times my ToD is melee is when I'm playing Invasion (Those people love to rush, dude) and a recent game on penance where I kept trying to get assassinations.

  • 01.20.2012 1:49 PM PDT

Ooh, I love those people, the ones who decide to throw everything and the kitchen sink at you, as if an M16 does anything to a T-90. Oh, MLG player with noobtube instead? Congrats! You blew off one of my ablative plates!

Gun, meet Bad Guy.
Bad Guy, this is Gun.

You spawn with a gun, why not use it.

The answer to your question can be found within this example.

You could have sniped this person. This would have been faster, more efficient, and more skillful. Instead, you charged in for the double pummel.

Admittedly, I did spawn with the person in my reticule. I tried no scoping but they ran off trying to kill someone else. They didnt see me coming, so i just double pummeled
