hello,

I posted this earlier, but some forum mod closed it down without reading what I said. The 1st thing i said was that i like both the halo games. The second thing I said was that bad face models DO NOT make a game suck. I just want bungie to know what the face models can be done better.

here was my original post:

"I like Halo and Halo 2. I don't think horrible face models make them bad games. But is it just me or does the character's faces look like crap in both the halo games, and now the trailer seem to also show a crappy face model of cortona. There are plenty of games with realistic /nice looking face models. Please just hire a guy to do a better job. I was repulsed looking at the cut scenes going through halo2, I hope halo3 will be better."

here is what GameJunkieJim said before he locked the thread:
"I wish I could lock threads for being ridiculously dumb.

Oh wait. I can.

Graphics do not make a game suck. !gnoP owns."

Saying looking at the visuals made you "replused" was the bad part. Also, you said for them to hire someone who knows what he's doing. No one said you had to play the games, and you don't have the right to complain. If you want to -blam!- about it, why don't YOU go do it yourself? Oh that's right...because you CAN'T. And it's not a suggestion, you're TELLING Bungie how to make their game. Don't do that. Also, if the first one was blocked, I'm sure this one will be too.

Also, I disagree, !gnoP doesn't own, it pwns.

It would be really cool if they got some intense facial expressions during combat.

Yes he does have the right to complain. He paid 50$ for Halo 2, and he's talking about something he thinked needs improvement for the sequel.

You guys are exaggerating how critical I am of the game. I think halo is great and it's graphics are awesome. But I think the face models can use some improvement.

take it easy.

/agree x10 with OP. My least favorite part of the game was seeing the weird pop-in textures of the face model on Miranda Keyes in one of the cinematics. On the other hand, one of the first things i was impressed by when i bought Call of Duty 2 was the amazing facial detail.
thusly, /sign

No, in Halo 3 they are not going to improve the graphics.[/sarcasim} <-some people here are kinda slow

And besides its not like all you do in Halo is look at your teammates face.

Graphics are the least of my worries in Halo 3.

Well, I was content with how the faces looked in halo considering it is kind of old.
And that halo2 uses the same graphics hardware in the xbox, so that you can't improve the faces a lot.

But with xbox360, there is a lot of potential for improvement. For example, the face models in Oblivion look pretty good compared with halo2 face models.

I know that some of you may think that I'm emphasizing too much on this, but I say it improves game play because it helps you immerse with the game better.

Help a brother out. Click on the referral link, sign up for a fun game, log in once for the next couple of days, then you never have to think about it again!

And yes. I understand how pathetic that is, but nobody reads these things anyway... right?

I think the models are great in general, and I don't really see a problem with the face models... the only thing that I think would need a little graphical touchup would be the gravemind and the prophets. Other than that, the graphics are great!

Yep, that is where I thought they lacked...

Prophets particularly - their mouth was so "detached" from the rest I thought.

But Halo 2 was such a big game for the first XBox to handle. My XBox had some major lag in the video sequences - so that took alot away from those moments as well.

Other than that, I was fairly impressed considering what machine was running it. Another good example of a game that is to big for the XBox is Doom 3 and it faces similiar problems.

Also note that Halo 2 looks ALOT better on the 360. The 360 smooths out the jagged spots in the game. Like on paint when you draw an angled line and its bumpy - in parts like that in the game, the 350 will smooth it out. Pretty cool. Helps with the face and hair ALOT.

Okay, some examples are the general guy who presents the medals in the beginning, keye's daughter, the chick soldier who follows your around in the tank mission.

i don't know how much can be said about the alien models though. I agree it looks better on the 360, but the skin and face just doesn't look real enough.

Thinked?

He does have that right, just as long as he's not flaming Bungie about it.

I dont know about you, but when I'm playing XBL, face models are the last thing on my mind.

If they did look bad, I would only be concerned for a few seconds in campaign mode which is a very small part of the playing experience.

You keep trying to emphasize that you think it's not serious, but you keep posting about it anyway. There is room for improvement, and improvements will be made. Be patient.
