I actually ended up enjoying Glasslands quite a lot. I've always felt the horror of what Halsey did, whilst having a lot of "yeah that's bad" in other media, was never really given the full scope of how awful it was. Sure, it saved humanity, but it was nice to have Halsey's 'great evil' addressed properly.
And in my opinion, even if parts were a bit of a bash-Halsey-fest, Traviss still gave over a decent word count to her justification of it. I see it as an accurate representation of how your average trooper/ODST/whatever would react to proof of the Spartan program. That is, with complete anger and disbelief.
