In a word, no. CE doesn't do a thing with your original copy of halo except use the same cd key. CE is a completely different program.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Halo: CE has a better netcode and it lets you play custom maps among other things.

If you have both Halo and Halo CE installed on your desktop, you will have two icons, one saying Halo the other saying Halo Custon Edition. In order to play Halo CE you need the Halo disk, and the Product Key (when installing Halo CE). To run Halo CE you need to have the Halo disk in your cd drive, same as if you were gonna play Halo. The major differnece between the two is as Aj6627 posted, there is a better netcode, and you can upgrade the graphics, well kind of. There is a page in the fourms that has a huge list of sites with maps, but I appaer to have misplaced my links folder, so I can't help ya there, but just look around in the forums you will find some more helpful info.
