Subject: How Total is Glassing?

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

"You are...all of you...vermin. Cowering in the dirt thinking... what, I wonder? That you might escape the coming fire? No. Your world will burn until its surface is but glass!"

Hence Glassing.

It renders planets uninhabitable and the shards are used as trophies.

However like most things in Halo:Reach. There are exceptions and the planet does survive through terraforming. Although in-game animations and artwork from other sources contradict this, the final cutscene of H:Reach comfirms that Reach survives.

Along with N-6's unglassable helmet....

Oh right... that first cutscene must have been a bit misleading and all..

A: Helm intact
B: Aft portion of frigate hulk, also intact

If the area had actually been glassed, neither A or B would be present, as the glassing beam/energy projector would utterly destroy both.

A portion of the frigate hulk and the helmet are the only things present. I don't see how thats are arguement for the area not being glassed. From the 1st cutscene to last. Regardless of glassing or not. However, you probably are right. The area was not glassed. I'm just saying the cutscenes are misleading.

If you wanna take about if either was present. Than let's take a more simple perspective.

Would the covenant not take N-6's helmet or any other spartan equipment?

In most cases the equipment or armour of a "demon" would be considered trophies or used for research. Hence emphasized by the novels when the engerner could not be trusted after repairing John's armour.

So what's it even doing there?
I mean they took away all the other sanghelli bodies right, or did they just disappear?

The fact that it's even there in the first place is stupid already. But like most things in H:Reach. You just have to overlook it.

not very lol

Here's a point, though.

"Had it not been for the Arbiter's counsel, I would have glassed this entire planet."

Vadum' only had a few ships. I'm surprised he even managed to glass half of Africa in such a short space of time if the Reach data-pads are right.

No way he could have glassed all of Earth.

Don't be stupid like I was! Check to see what that Forum Ninja is saying to you!

it is often believed he was exaggerating Wolver. I honestly wish Hood said, Half a country.

Good to still see you around wolver, I remeber you from the halo wars forums, you still play that game? On topic: Everything except halo:reach seems to point towards the covenant having the ability to glass planets.

Somewhere between a light tanning and a sweltering inferno.

The shock and awe is most probable. If the covenant found supposed "artifacts" that are really humans, they would glass enough of the planet to kill or drive off the population. Then they would excavate whatever land was untouched. After major ground battles, the covenant fleet would glass the surface to ensure a total victory.

Halo Reach pretty much messed with the whole concept of the Covenant being able to glass entire planets.

In the novels, planets are completely glassed. Cinders.

In the game, Reach was not completely glassed, and the data pads suggest that the Covenant dont have the resources to render an entire planet into glass

the datapads also mentioned that the covenant would waste resources on glassing planets with a lot of water/oceans.

reach looked like it had a lot of water. th other planets im not sure.
