Just because the camera cuts to the ship the Prophet and the MC are on, doesn't mean that that is the Ark. I'm not saying it's NOT, either, but the camera change doesn't prove anything.
OK, dude, instead of 343 answering her question directly with words, they basically answer it visually by showing the Ark. It's pretty obvious; besides, why else would one measly Forerunner ship be so important?
In addition, how do you think the Prophets first survived the original Halo activation hundreds of thousands of years ago?? (After all, the prophets, according to the books, evolved on the same planet as the Forerunner, so they must have survived somehow!) They probably rode on the Ark, which is why the thing is stuck in High Charity! (OK, so, scrap my previous idea that the Forerunner took the Ark to survive and become humans. Sorry for contradicting myself, but I think my new theory is better)
So, yeah, technically you're right, it's not proof. But, I think it's close-a-damn-nough.
While, as you said, it could be a visual answer to Miranda's question, you need to think of it this way: What would have happened if, instead of cutting directly to the forerunner ship, the camera cut to a secret base on Earth somewhere, the computers and things inside the base suddenly came online, and after that cut to the scene where the Forerunner ship is flying to Earth? You would think the secret base was the Ark, and not the Forerunner ship. Cutting to the ship could have been to keep the story on track.
