I love you

Does anybody know or have theories as to what and who they are?

We should know better, because we are better.

No ideas whatsoever. We know too little to make an accurate guess, really.

Very true. That's probably the best theory.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

Whatever it was, the owners of it are at war with the Forerunners.

There are four rather visible ships on the cover. Look at the second closest one.

Looks almost exactly like our T5 ship. Notice the burning Forerunner city. If the ship was Precursor, then Spark should have been able to decipher the distress signal almost instantly. But he couldn't, which leads me to believe it is a previously unknown race.

Yeah, what's this idea that magically the some of the enemy in halo 4 would crash on installation 04 and then die there massively long ago?

That's probably one of the worst theories. *sigh* if only they came out of the ship just to say hello to 343.

Yes except that those are Forerunner ships. Who says they aren't evacuating?

The ship was something that will be used as a plot device in the future.

Says you.

The ship could be anything. If it is not some future unknown race, then it is probaly some forerunner ship that was re-designed by some early elites or prophets.

Waypoint Moderators aren't really Moderators, just power hungry and its goal is defend their beloved Halo at all costs. (Meaning that they wank Halo too much.)

BS Angel is alleged foe so, be wary of Waypoint and its moderators! Do not attempt to move to Waypoint. Enter your own risk.

*WARNING* IT IS MY OPINION.

It was noble 6,he actually hijacked an unknown covie ship and escaped reach only to crash on installation 04 and die on impact.

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

It's a Reaper (no really, look at it's design) that got blasted so hard in ME3, that it was knocked into the Halo-verse.

OK so Primordium mentions a Forerunner ship of a completely different design than anything Forerunner we have ever seen before. Even the Forerunner inside are noted to be different. Here is the description:

"It was a different design, more organic, like a seed pod, with short spikes covering its surface. The Forerunners left inside - three of them - wore no armor and had been reduced to blackened skeletons. They seemed different - different styles of boats, different types of Forerunners."

Keep in mind that this is a smaller craft, probably Longsword size give or take. Try imagine the same design aesthetic but on a larger scale. Now look at these pictures of the unknown ship from the Anniv. Terminals (#5).

spikes
spikes 2
seed-like?

So, Ancient Forerunner splinter group? Lost early Forerunner civilization? Cryptum does say that the Forerunner's history of their own species was lost/limited.

Thoughts?
