OH my christ! We've known that they're human for -blam!- years! And even if they ain't, we knew they were similar to Chief, at least.

I have been thinking about this theory since the first game. I was just waiting for the proper time to reveal it. I dont know if this has already been a topic if so too bad! Back on subject now lets hear some more speculation

I just can't see the Forerunners being exactly humans. Now, if they were human, why would covenant use their technology and humans not?
Maybe the forerunners were something along the lines of an elite, and maybe way back in time early humans and early elites battled for earth. Then maybe the humans were slaves to the forerunners(early elites) built whatever it was they wanted on earth, and left, leaving the humans behind.

Humans can use their technology. They just dont understand it.

If they were Elites, why did it take so long for them to find Earth? Why would they leave? If they were Elites, the Humans would have gotten some of their technology.

Mark my words, humans are not directly forerunners. Think...why would covenant use HUMAN technology, and not humans? I think it will go along the lines of way back in time early humans and an early covenant life form battled for earth. the covenant won, making humans their slaves. When the covenant advanced their technology and used our resources, they left earth, finding home on new planets. Humans, now having nothing technology wise after being slaves for years and years, are left with the earth, kind of like cavemen had no technology. It has flaws, but I think it will be something along the lines of that

^^^^^thats from another post, yes it has flaws, but i think it will be something somewhat like that

well lemme jsut say that your theory is too flawed the reason why humans dont have the tech is cause the ruins are burried too far in the earth making it so humans couldnt find them and also covenant found them first most likely because they made it into space first and they found a ring took its technology and were able to become way more advanced than the humans.

ok im not sure if anybody has offered this yet but... ive thought that the humans are the descendants of the forerunners for a long time now. the forerunners (i am reffering to the halo inside the earth theory) after using all other options activated all the Halos (we knew that) their home planet was in my opinion Earth. so the Ark which is mentioned in the other Halos is in my opinion a bunker-like thing from which the surviving forerunners emerged after the halos fired, after which they had to revert to primitive means to survive eventually forgetting all they knew and turning into the early -blam!--Sapians over time.

You do have a very fair point, and my theory is flawed, but i am just saying that i don't think they will be human, but another form that was once on earth.

There is one question I have to raise (and it may have already been covered). In the trailer just as the artifact rises from the water, it appears as though the covenant forces are withdrawling. Could this artifact (forerunner more than likely) be against the covenant unlike the forerunner ship that was seen in Halo 2. Could the surviving humans have had it hidden as a last resort weapon and knew about it all along?

I just updated http://www.halopedia.org/index.php/The_Ark#Summary.

The last paragraph is my revision. Feel free to add on or fix any mistakes I might have made.

I think they are withdrawing because of the shockwave and the fact that the structure is opening up (this is more clear in the HD version of the trailer).

Interesting theory though.

I just think that having elites descend from the fforerunners jsut sounds wrong. i would rather have them be humans itd be a nice twist if they executed it in the story correctly.
