It is my opinion, and maybe some other peoples, that Halo 2 did not capture the original feeling that Halo had. Now that ive said that i will acknoledge capturing the feeling the original Halo had is extremely hard to do. But I believe that for some reason or reasons Halo 2 wasnt as mystifying as the original halo. The original Halo was mystifying because it delt with and unexplored ring planet and no one knew what was going on untill the end of the story. This set the story up to make the Master Chief the "bada$$ on a mission"/"last hope the whole universe has" type of character that he was. Halo 2 was not nearly as mystifying. How the flood was realeased wasnt well explained in Halo 2 and how the got abord the covenant main ship wasnt either. The constant shifting of locations took away from the master chiefs mission to stop the flood at all cost. Playing as the arbitor especially took away as well, although it did serve to explain a good deal about the Covenants motivation. THe story is about how master chief is the universe's last hope not about the arbitor. Also when listening to the music from the original halo and comparing it to the music from Halo 2 realized that the abience was greatly different. I believe that halo 3 should get back to the "outerspace mystified master chief on a mission feeling" that the original did so well in presenting. I do admit that halo 2 does have some moments that capture the original feeling from halo, but nothing to the extent that i think it should have. That said Halo 2 was a great game and i have no doubt that Halo 3 will be as well, but i believe we should pay more attention to what made Halo feel like................well... Halo.

I agree completely. And from watching the Halo 3 trailer, I think it will. I also think that Halo 3 will be everything they wanted to do with Halo 2.

Halo 2 was also somewhat rushed due to Microsoft's interference, so it is highly possible that your feeling of "not as mystifying as the original Halo" was due to that.

Halo 3 should feal like halo 3, if it felt like halo, then why would we want to buy halo 3 at all if it felt just like halo?

You can capture the feel of the original, but still make a game that is different and defines it as Halo 3.

I agree completely with the topic creator.

exact ditto to what Tmerr first said. I cannot repeat cannot in words possibly begin to describe how that is exactly what I felt when I was deeply compelled after watching the Halo 3 trailer again to go kick some ass in Halo CE. Imo, both games were great but no matter what Bungie or anyone else does, Halo will always be Halo and no one will ever be able to change that.

Im very aware of that, but halo 3 should define the halo trilogy, just like LOTR:ROTK, and Martrix revolutions. I know those are movies but still. Im not baggin on H:CE or anything, i like that one more than anything.

ya i still miss that feeling when i first crapped my pants when the flood was released in Halo: CE and i think halo 3 will capture that mysterious feeling with the unveiling of the ark and all of its mysteriousness

Halo had an epic feeling to me... with the wide open levels. Halo 2 felt like i was just going through rooms killing countless aliens. I sure hope Halo 3 is like Halo CE

There were some things I liked and disliked with Halo 2. Ditto with Halo 1. Integrate the two together to make Halo 3. Halo 1 + Halo 2 = Halo 3.

Actually, I wasn't a big fan of Halo 2 for the most part, so:

(Halo 1 + Halo 1 - Halo 2)Halo 1 = Halo 3 ^^

Just kiddin'. DON'T FLAME ME!
