Subject: Why do i lag out!?

I just lagged out of a good rumble pit game i was winning, and i lagged out earlier today in Arena. It pisses me off, and when i lag out it happens consistently. How can i fix this?

Winner of the 2012 Lurker of the Year award.

I'm watching you.

I would try testing your connection or contacting your ISP and asking what's going on.

1.Are you using a wired connection, wireless or wired/wireless bridge

2.Is your NAT Type open? - If not go to http://portforward.com and find out your routers model, it will guide you on how to open ports for your xbox.

3.If Wireless what wireless channel are you on, changing your wireless channel to something else can sort out your lag issues. It did with me. a good program to use is inSSIDer it will scan for other wifi connections and tell you what wireless channel they are using if there are other wifi points using same channel as you change it.

4.If Wireless what kind of signal are you getting? are you pointing the antenna to where your router is located? or moving the wireless adapter and router closer to each other?

5.Is anyone else on your connection, downloading or just browsing the web? On slower broadband connections this can cause issues with xbox live, if anyone is downloading through p2p software like uTorrent set up your torrents for low bandwidth and limit download/upload rate to 10-30kbps during play.

6. If wired/wireless bridge makesure multicast streams are enabled on your router.

7. If there are 2 or more xbox's on your network enable uPnP on routers that dont support port openings on 2 different IP addresses

I suggest also running a speedtest at http://speedtest.net to see what your getting for broadband speed.

If you need a hand or anything explained more in depth let me know.

Before doing the above, restart your router.

This normally fixes alot of problems. But you should setup port forwarding as suggested above, if you have not already.

This will greatly improve network performance for your xbox when connecting to xbox live.
