Subject: My Theories Regarding "Destiny"

As many of you are already aware of, Reach was Bungie's final Halo game. Ending their partnership with Microsoft and joining EA for a large new project, only theories exist as to what might Bungie/EA could develop. This is one of those theories.

First and foremost: IT WILL NOT BE CONNECTED TO HALO IN ANY CONCEIVABLE MANNER. Microsoft possesses the rights to the franchise. An anonymous source recently stated that (quote from website) "...Bungie's upcoming title will be what we would refer to as a Sci-Fi MMOFPS. It will practically be WoW in space, for all intents and purposes."

So, an MMOFPS, eh? This is where my theory begins.

1. A completely new universe and lore
2. Borderlands - style gameplay
3. Ability to command ships and enter dogfights while in space
4. Some sort of dungeon system
5. Bungie being Bungie will likely insert some easter egg referencing Halo
6. SWTOR-style dialogue
7. A war with: Other humans, Aliens, Infected Humans, Creatures, Robots, or some other entity

Well, that's it. If you would like to contribute to this theory, simply post a response.

They didn't join EA, they were signed by Activision Blizzard.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

It wouldn't surprise me if all this "See you starside" and "WoW in space!" is nothing but a smoke and mirrors campaign to fool the community, and the end result will have nothing to do with space.

Not EA but Activison.

Didn't Joe Staten pretty much write off the MMO as a joke?

1) MMO is a HUGE rumor. It all came from this quote from Joe Staten:
"Wouldn't it be great if we could make a world that was always there for you? Wow. That would be great." While some, such as Kotaku Australia, take that as a hint for an MMO, it is most likely just a joke.

2) They haven't "joined" anyone. They are in a very pro-Bungie contract with Activision.

3) 4D-Flight Simulator. Just sayin'.

SC = Supreme Commander/Supreme Canadian.

De Facto leader of the military of the APE (Allied Planets Empire).

Coup = Admiral Asskicker, ZPM hive ship

Maybe it's just me, but I'm expecting a video game version of Stargate Universe.

Would give MGM the funding to produce the final three books in the "Homecoming" series, Stargate: Extinction (SGA movie), and the third SG1 movie (Disclosure to the population of Earth).

@spawn031

"So much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it's gratifying to have something you have done linger in people's memories." John Williams

I doubt it's an MMO anything. I've been reading a few articles and it seems that tons of speculation is against that. Granted it would be something that no other game company has tried doing. If Bungie had people pay a "membership" fee to play their gam in addition to the other costs of XBL, I feel that many people just wouldn't buy it.

Whatever it is, I'm excited to see what Bungie shows us by E3 this year and with Bungie Day 2012, I'm sure they will show more info than we hoped for :)

You have probably already read it, but here is a great read that has tons of speculation.
