On Halo, Whenever I start a campain game, The screen goes black. It will show the subtittle on the bottom right, eg.. "I would Have Been Your Daddy", but nothing else shows up. I can hear sound but it doesn't sound right. The menu screens render Halo, and the sound is normal. All of my other games like Fable TLC and Half Life 2 run fine. The game has run before. It's been a few months since Iv'e played it, but in that time I havn't modded it, or made any changes to the folder. I tried reinstalling it, and DirectX 9c, and doing several system restores, but to no avail. I even personally deleted all of Halo's registry entries. I am running version 1.07 (latest) with all the latest drivers for my setup:

AMD Athlon XP 2800+
512MB of RAM
Windows XP Pro SP1
Onboard Realtec AC97 audio
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB AGP

I run the game with everything on High at 1280x1024, No Anti-aliasing (since I heard it causes problems.) V-sync on, and 30fps frame limiter is on.

Iv'e messed around with all the setings like texture quality, resolution, and even used safe mode. No-goes as well.

Anyone have any Ideas? A google session revieled nothing, and the Microsoft Halo support page was about as helpfell as a porcupine at a baloon factory.

With all my expiriance in computers, I am suprised I couldn't find a solution.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Update: Nevermind.......oddle enough, after relaunching the game about seven times, it started working as normal....

Now to setup the windows 360 cnofroller.

That was weird...

But this brings yet another problem to mind. On the Xbox version one button had multiple functions, Like the X button: Reload, Action, echange weapon. And the PC version only allows one action per button... How can I set up my Xbox 360 for windows controller to allow multiple functions per button?

The Action key which is default the "E" key on Halo PC not only performs action but it reloads or exchanges your weapon as well. It's not necessary to press "R" to reload or "X" to pick up a weapon on the keyboard, although it is much more convenient and you won't accidentally get in the passenger seat of a warthog while trying to reload or pick up a gun. So, simply put, assign Action to the "X" button. It's common sense, as long as you realize that you can reload with pressing the E key. That's why you leave some keys unassigned on your controller.

Here's Microsoft's guide to setting up the controller if you are confused with what I just said.
