I guarantee Halo 3 will be 10 times better than Halo 2 if these things take place:

1. The Pistol is brought back. Why? It perfectly balanced the game. It offset every other weapon. No longer did the rockets or sniper dominate. If you hate it, its because you weren't any good with it.

2. The P.O.V. ( Point Of View) of Halo 1 is brought back. It was set much further back, you could see everything quite easily. This allowed for split screen that actually works. If you notice, Halo 1 was actually made for split screen...only 4 boxes allowed for multiplayer. The point of view in Halo 2 is terrible, way too close up, split screen is a nightmare, cant't see a thing.

3. Take the Sword out of Multiplayer. Nobody likes it, takes absolutely no skill to use. Who hasn't complained when they were killed with it?

4. I noticed Master Cheif has new hand armor. Hopefully they wont add hand to hand combat, if we wanted that we would go pick up a copy of Fight Night Round 3.

- Hopefully i have spoken for most of the copmetitive gamers out there, and all the MLG fans. People who hate the battle rifle are simply people who get owned by it again and again. When they release Halo 3, they should also relase another version: Halo 3 Noobs Reloaded. Where there is nothing in the game except SMG's, Swords, Matchmaking for Modders, and of course the ever beloved gametype...Battle of the Bridgers.

Bungie has already explained why they won't bring the pistol back. It acts to much like a battle rifle and nothing like a pistol. In Halo 2, the battle rifle acted liek a rifle, the pistol acted like a pistol. Hopefully they'll give this new assault rifle better accuracy, and better range, but lower the rate of fire a bit. And it takes as much skill to kill with the pistol as it does with the sword. Except with a sword, people can just stay away from you and shoot you.

Ok I don't mean to be negative, but i really disagree with your argument about the sword. Yeh sure, people complain on XBL when they get killed by it, but its always a fun part of any LAN battle I've gone to. There is only one on each map, and it is a challenge to oppose it. Why not complain about plasma pistol, which is just as deadly, requires little skill and is so much more long-range? Like you said about the pistol and BR, you just don't like it because you can't use it and you get owned by it over and over. I understand that you're stating you opinion, so it's fine but saying things like "No one likes it"? C'mon there's something for everyone in there, the balance is great, a good player just learns to deal with anything they face.

As for my opinion, I'd like to see a little more on the melee combat side. I know it's a shooter and all, and that should definately be the most dominant aspect. But I think the melee at the moment is a bit too dependable. I'd like to see a bit more variation like in Perfect Dark Zero (where your weapon determines your running speed and melee damage), so that you can counter melees without knowing for sure that you can't win an encounter. Maybe just a defend function on the sword (or a shield) and a few different melee types.

No, i wasnt saying everyone hates the Battle Rifle or the Sword for that matter. I was talking simply to the people who complain about it, and would rather start with an SMG than a weapon that could do more damage from a greater distance. But, honestly during the production of Halo 2, they said they wanted to add more realism to the multiplayer aspect of the game. Now, how does an energy sword that locks on and lunges from 10 + feet away add up to realism? Or how Master cheif can flip a warthog, yet he can only throw a grenade like 5 feet. I think they should really consider steering the changes made in Halo 3 multiplayer towards making it more like the Halo 1 multiplayer. After all, the success in the sale of Halo 2, came from the popularity of Halo1. If i can recall, there wasnt a sword in sight.
