In my opinion, it is not the implementation of bloom, armor lock, or "bad" maps. It is the campaign missions. Or further to the point, lack of campaign maps. However, Reach has the same amount of missions as Halo: CE and Halo 3, so what am I talking about? I'm talking about the style of the missions. Reach primarily focused on Small vehicle/On foot missions. Missions like ONI: Swordbase and Pillar of Autumn are prime examples of this style. And while I enjoy these type missions, I resent Bungie for nerfing the vehicle maps.
Just look at Assault on the control room, Metropolis, The Ark and Coastal Highway. Great vehicle based missions that span across all Halo games. These are the missions I play regularly and still love. However when I play Tip of the Spear I frown, not because it isn't a fun mission, but because it isn't a fun vehicle based mission. It poorly compares to previous missions of its style. At least The Package redeemed some of the honor that Tip of the Spear lost.
