Now, as you all know Halo 1 had wide open spaces, and beautiful maps which everyone that was amazing and spectacular. Bungie obviously tried to re-create this in Halo 2, and it didn't work out so well. The maps had some large areas, but they seemed too enclosed to me. Hopefully Halo 3 will fix all this. By creating a balance of wide open spaces which you can go crazy in a warthog, and close quarters where there are enemies at every turn. Yet at the same time not too big that we get lost and don't know where the hell to go. Like in the level quarantine zone. This is for single player, multiplayer is different.
For multiplayer (in Halo 2)bungie wanted to take the feel of the wide open saces every loved, and put them on the maps. This however creates a problem for gameplay. One person can dominate the map with the sniper, or a br, or any other long range weapon. Allowing for the team to spawnkill very easily. Thie lack of cover also didn't help with this. Instead, what Halo 3 needs are smaller multiplayer maps, or at least ones with more cover from enemy fire.
In conclusion, muliplayer maps need to be small, with more close combat. And single player maps need to be a mix of both open spaces and close quarters.
Tell me what ya think.
