you mean other than the monitor recognising us, us being labeled species 0000 in its data banks, only humans can activate halo, we simply "know" what buttons to push to do stuff, the giant freakin thing in africa.... also, think of how when a story passes from one person to another successively it gets muddled...read the bible recently? the ark saving humanity from the flood?

I go by many names, Shinigami, osiris, thanatos, Ares are but a few. But my name is not important for i am god and i am coming for you.

i am a master of my trade with these two hands i create great works. What is it i do?? ... well lets hope for your sake you never find out.

Like guns?? so do we, join Halo Armory and you can too

the aztecs and such where human but we know nearly nothing about them or other ancient cultures. knowledge is lot in time its just one of those things, important things get passed along and eventually pass out of memory.

maybe the same thing happened with the forerunners.

I got his sarcasm...one person has to implement sarcasm and then you get a pile of terrorist chipmunks crashing your party, not fun at all..

TGP is definitely slowly leaking info from the Halo Bible. Last time I checked the forums he revealed when tigers went extinct. I think it was 2129, not that sure.

I mean like yeah how much of our history has been forgotten or we dont understand, I mean what have we forgotten or still dont understand about the pyramids or stonehenge,if you went back even only 200 years and showed the world half the things available today it would be classed as magic and you would be locked up, with ancient past Facts become stories, stories become legends and legends become Myths until our stories and history are lost, what if the ark is the ark from the bible saving us from the FLOOD but not as we understand it today.

  • 05.15.2006 4:20 AM PDT

I have a rendezvous with death. At some disputed barricade.

ignoring some of the slightly substantial evidence I can only come up with 2 possible answers.

1) The Forerunner did not want us to findout about the rings or activate their "Divine Cleansing Wave"

2) The Forerunner did not expect to have the blast wave kill them. Before I get flamed by people saying "The cleansing wave is meant to kill all sentient life." The Forerunner were a smart race, why doom themselfves to instant vapourisation? Whats to say that they couldn't just build some form of sheild to counteract their own weapon and leave them unscathed. Now everyone starts screaming; "But that defeats the purpose of the weapon!!!" If the sheild could stop the weapon why cant it stop the flood too?? Why cant it just sheild them from the rest of the galaxy until the Flood went dormant.

Now if the Forerunner put themselves in somekind of temperairy sleep to wiat out the "flood." I personaly think that The Ark is an object that wakes up the Forerunner and that we are only its keepers. for this to work the Forerunner must plant the seed of longing: The religion of the Covenant....

We can remember, we just need to be reminded. If you've read The Flood, you'll notice how MC somehow knew which buttons to push whenever he found Forerunner tech (eg. the light bridge).

I think that answers the question pretty well. How on earth could we remeber things form 100 000 years ago, when we can't remember things from 10 000 years ago?

Though I guess not leaving any kind of memory behind doesn't really make sense.

Oh yes. we are going to spend 100,000 years building a set of super-weapons that can blow up the universe & not leave any sort of clue for our ancestors to find & not stumble blindly onto these super-weapons & BLOW UP THE UNIVERSE!

Halo 3: Collapse
Chapter 20, Revelations, is up (update 11-14-10)
The Mirratord

Ω

How about this:

The Ark is either Earth, or on Earth. It is shielded from the effects of Halo. The forerunners preserved their species here, but in order to prevent the halos from ever being used again, they swore off technology for posterity by altering their own genetic code. Only about 10% of the human brain is actively used. What if the forerunners used 100% of their brains? When the spartans were augmented, the amount of their brains being used was increased, and as a result, it unlocked knowledge of forerunner technology that otherwise would have remained buried in the subconscious mind.

No, Human are not the Forerunners. Humans are the Reclaimers. We are not the same as the Forerunners, but we are connected with them. I think we were created by them. The Haloes, besides being weapons of mass destruction, were environmental and biological labratories. They similated certain environments (particularly the Earth's environment) and attempted to experimentally prompt the evolution of a sentient species: humans. They succeeded, and these proto-humans left ruins throughout the haloes that they had built. These proto-humans died, of course, once the haloes were activated, along with all sentient life forms, including every last one of the Forerunners. After this event, the structure underneath Mombosa activated and set to work ordering the evolution of us humans into sentient beings. We created a civilization, and we are the Reclaimers. I don't think the Forerunners ever lived on Earth. Rather, they chose the Earth as a location to create the Reclaimers after they died.

How about at some point in the past a group of species formed a covenant (which the new covenant copied when they began worshipping the forerunners) In this old covenant were the Forerunners and the Reclaimers among others. When they discovered the Flood, the old covenant built the Halos as a weapon against them, and the ark, as a protection for themselves against the Halos. Since they could not afford to let the Ark fall to the Flood it was constantly guarded by the most versatile of their race, the Reclaimers (similar to the Elites in the new covenant, they are strong, have good technology, and are intelligent unlike grunts, drones, and hunters) Unexpectedly the Flood may have attacked and destroyed a vast majority of the old covenant, forcing those few reclaimers in the ark to activate the Halos, to preserve at least some of their species.

Now, it just happened that the Ark was located on "earth". When the Halos were activated, the only survivors of the old covenant, the reclaimers, were stranded on Earth. Over time they began to redevelop their society from the beginning. Why they lost the use of their previous technology I am not sure, but it may have been some side-effect of the firing, some period of recharge, where it did not function. During the time of "recharging etc" the knowledge of how to use the technology became dormant in the 'human' brain (Name changed due to changed living circumstances, or otherwise). Due to our versatility, we began to recreate our old technology, and 'quickly' built up from a group of isolated beings, into a fully-fledged, space-faring civilisation. This could explain why 343 Guilty Spark recognised us as the reclaimers, how we instinctively know how to use forerunner technology, how we have managed to adapt so quickly as to be able to combat the Covenant, and how 343 Guilty Spark recognised the Chief's Mjolnir armor, since it was actually a recreation of the old covenant's technology, which we created from our dormant knowledge of the tech.
It also could explain why the Covenant feel so threatened by us (due to our former 'divinity' in their eyes).

By the way, this is all pure speculation, in my mind it all fits together, but others no doubt have their own theory, and will shun mine. I simply offer it as a possible explanation, believe it, or be sceptical about it, the decision is yours.

Yo!

wow, your idea is the most realistic, upstanding, cant be doubted by any kind of evidence idea ever, it fits so perfectly. WE ARE NOT THE FORERUNNERS JASON JONES SAID SO. But this idea on the other hand makes perfect sense
