Okay I love the tank and all in Halo 1, but the open cockpit in multiplayer is just... weird to say the least. I know everything needs to have a weakness, but in Halo 2 with the homing rockets that could be the Tank's weakness, no more open cockpit so you can snipe the driver. And also why can't I move the tank and turn the turret separately, it makes no sense what so ever... I hate not being able to reverse and fire like a real tank, or strafe and fire. I don't mean to sound demanding, but these changes seem appropriate to me!

the coolest way to take out a tank would be waht the military uses now...depleted uranium bullets, eats through the srmour, and in a minute all of it is on fire

That would be a cool gun to have. It would go real good with the way the vehicles blow up now only side effect would be when you used it you died.

Side Note: Depleted Uranium has is much denser and heavier then lead. Since the power of an impact is a function of Velocity and Mass, increasing the mass increases the effectiveness of the round. Depleted Uranium rounds can penetrate the thickest of armours but also have a negative impact on the environment. Nothing grows in an area where Depleted Uranium rounds have been fired excessively.

If you have seen Monster Garage's Dune Buggy episode you have seen Depleted Uranium in action, swiss cheesing the Dune Buggy after it failed to win the contest. (Monster Garage was also criticized by environmental groups for its use of the ammunition)

Depleted Uranium is also used on the front armour plating on the M1-Abrams tank and is currently unable to be penetrated by any means. In the entire war in Iraq the US military only last two tanks. These tanks... just happened to be on a bridge when it blew up sending them crashing down into the ravine.

They use Uranium bullets because they are very dense and heavy. They have a lot of enertia so they aren't stopped by the armor. They don't cause any fire or anything they just have a better chance of hitting internal fuel tanks and ammunition

I imagine the Tank in Halo 2 is going to be insanely tough to defeat. Remember, it took four rockets to destroy the Warthog in the demonstration video so it must take at least that much damage and most likely more...

Slow moving and with thick armour, I imagine it will take Infantry with rocket launchers and possibly a couple of Warthogs armed with either the Gauss cannon or Rocket Cannon to take it down. I can't imagine small arms fire even damaging it.

The idea to destroy it would be to focus your attacks upon the turret. Disabling the tank by blasting apart it's treads just seems silly and a waste of ammunition better spent on disabling the turret. Even without the ability to move the tank would still be formidable with its gun. Worse, if you target the treads, the tank could merely spin it's base about presenting its undamaged side to you while still blasting you. You'd have to start all over again. Better to go for the turret. One major difficulty here is in "Target Tracking" on the infantry rocket launcher. The Rocket Launcher goes for center mass... which may or may not be the turret.

Of course... All this could just be a distraction for the infantryman sneaking up for a boarding action.

Now... another interesting possibility is that the Tank might have an external fuel tank of some sort. The Wraith does (Thank you Frankie) which you could specifically target after you took down the Wraith's shields. (Frankie... the Covenant Tank... has SHIELDS!? or are the sheilds just around the fuel tank...?) If so, this could be a weak point that you'd have to shield from Sniper Rifle and Battle Rifles.

I'd be happy if they made the machine gun on the thing more accurate. It couldn't hit a Elite if it was at point blank range.

Shaken, not stirred.

Seriously, though, I just thought about those rockets. Rockets are hard enough to dodge in Halo as it is. Homing rockets won't be too much of help. Oh well. I guess it'll help me. My best friend is a tank whore.
