All of what I have read in the books and played in game with cutscenes leads me to somewhat feel that time travel has, or will, come to pass i the Halo Universe.

Partly because of the remarks made by 343 GS.
Halo CE:

In General:
"Reclaimer"
- As if they have met and 343 knows his title or function

THE LIBRARY:
"Puzzling. You brought such ineffective weapons to combat the Flood, despite the containment protocols. "
- As though MC should know these protocols.

"These Sentinels will supplement your combat system. But, I suggest you upgrade to at least a Class Twelve combat skin. Your current model only scans as a Class Two, which is ill suited for this kind of work."
-Vauge, but what if the Halo 3 Armor is equal to a Class Twelve skin?

TWO BETRAYALS:
"More or less. Technically, this installation's pulse has a maximum effective radius of twenty-five thousand light years. But, once the others follow suit, this galaxy will be quite devoid of life, or at least any life with sufficient biomass to sustain the flood. (pause) But you already knew that. I mean, how couldn't you?"
- How couldn't the MC know? If he traveled back in time a year or so later... then the
meeting between 343 and MC would take place in the FUTURE for MC and in the PAST
for 343.

"We have followed outbreak containment procedure to the letter. You were with me each step of the way, as we managed this crisis."
- As if the MC knows the procedures, again. Maybe even as if he set up, or was involved in
setting up, the procedures.

"Why would you hesitate to do what you have already done?"
- The biggest hint at time-travel!!!

"Last time, you asked me, if it was my choice, would I do it? Having considerable time to ponder your query, my answer has not changed."
- The second biggest hint...

==========================

Now, you can take it as you wish...

However, remember that if 343 is nuts then what if he "forgot" that MC came via time travel?
Or maybe MC did not tell him that he came via time travel.

Just some of my ideas...

Feel free to flam as needed.

Maybe 343 is making assumptions, because the Master Chief looks like a Forerunner or something. Like, why would you come here and NOT know what to do?

ok now with this i doubt about the time travel that you suggest taking place, however as a couple other threads have stated, humans have something to do with the forerunners so this is why the monitor recognizes humans and think that they should already know everything

I thought the second hint was better. I thought MC asked him in the Library. But your theory makes so much more sense. And I thouhgt what he has already done meant everything except activate Halo. Theres a lot of good points, but I think its not time travel, just that he came there as a forerunner millions of years ago. Great ideas!

Yet it sounds like 343 doesn't think he is a forunner but a specific Forerunner that he had met long ago, given he only sees his armor and can make a mistake but the Armor isn't based off Forerunner tech but Covenant tech. Maybe the Covenant did base the Elite battle armor off Forerunner tech and modified it to fit Elites and then the UNSC modified it back to fit humans and it looks almost exactly like the Forerunner armor? Unlikely, Bungie put 343's words in there for a reason and not just to give us such a disappointing explanation.

No time travelling.

Albert Einstin DISCOVERED that by traveling near ( not at, not possible) the speed of light will slow time itself down, and when you came back a few years later Earth would have aged thousands of years. So if thats what you mean, yes, its possible.

I don't care if it is possible, I don't have the foggiest how slip-space jumps work either. But can people at least respond to the points made by Servano?

time travel aspect is possible. the creators who were at e3 said the trailor was based around a third of the way through the game, so maybe when cortana says, this is the way the world ends, that is the end. and the rest of the game is master chief trying to stop that from happening, but i doubt it still. undoubtably 343 and gravemind will play a much bigger part in this game.

The "why would you hesitate to do what you have already done" quote doesn't have anything to do with time travel. He is asking why would you hesitate to activate Halo when you have already tried to.

I think this is a lot harder to explain, I am pretty sure that the MC did not ask him "If it were your choice, would you activate the Ring?" in Halo: CE.

Halo itself always had some dark stuff that you never knew. I mean what happened to him between halo1 and halo2? and halo3 brings tones of new questions.
