The Halo 2 limited edition game came with a pamphlet entitled "Conversations of the Universe." This included a conversation among Elites, in which one of them referred to the Sharquoi.
They continue to lose territory, and pattern or no pattern, these defenses must be part of a perimeter. I suspect we are forcing them into a tighter arena than they care to fight in-soon we may be able to use the Sharquoi.
Some have theorized that these are another Covenant client race, the Drinol, same as from the Marathon series. In the Behind the Scenes DVD, Drinol are described as huge beasts that are kept contained and segregated from the other forces. When enraged in phenominal strength, they are used to smash enemy vehicles.
From a Bungie Weekly What's Update:
Q: What's a Sharquoi?
A: Very freaking dangerous.
Many assume the Sharquoi and the Drinol to be the same thing, but I don't. My reasoning: why, if they are used against vehicles, could they not be used in any ground engagement? I think that they are instead a form of special forces; Jackal assassins of unparalleled skill. Perhaps skilled enough to infiltrate the Hive. What do you think, and should they have a place (Sharquoi or Drinol) in Halo 3?
