In halo 1 it was clearly stated that halo is a weapon that kills sentient life within a given radius to stop the flood from feeding, so that eventualy they would starve to death. Then 343 GS comfirmed that the Halo's were fired once before so technicaly their should be no life in the milky way (our galaxy) but some dumb ass decided their are humans and covenant alive in a galaxy were all life should of ciesed to exist. Then they decided that flood did not starve to death and they 'were sleeping' YEA RIGHT! like you could survive thousands of years with out food.

Then theres that theory that the foreruners kept a few flood alive to study them. whats the point in that if the foreruners were going to blow themselves to next universe? why the hell would the foreruners breach containment and keep their enemy alive but kill themselves? sound dumb? YES IT DOES!!

The simple fact of it is that the flood should not exist! and if in halo 3 the halo's do get set off again and the flood do die then my statement about the writers being sacked has to be followed through!

His logic is that if the big gun was fired in the past (think I vagely remember hearing that in CE) that there should be no life in the universe....ever

not ALL life in the universe was killed. It was all sentient life within 3 radii of the halo(s). I think the infection forms do not need sentient life to survive so there would still be some left around. The script writers are fine. Lrn2plot

well if all the flood weren't going to eventualy die why would the foreruners kill themselves?

  • 05.15.2006 7:51 AM PDT

Stats Don't Mean Anything If You Cheat

Bear in mind in religious context the ark is out of reach of the flood and if you assume that the ark is on earth then earth is out of reach of the flood therefore out of the way of the radius of the haloes

so they wouldn't spread and destroy other civilizations i would assume.

oh yea i forgot that worked. the foreruners should of known more about the before they activated the halos.

I'm one of those storm chasers that will never have a TV show because I don't scream at clouds.

As stated by 343 Guilty Spark, the Halos only killed sentient life with sufficient biomass to sustain a flood parasite. What that means is that the creatures that would evolve to become humans would probably have been spared. However, I don't know if the blast killed the already infected combat forms. Some infection forms surviving can be explained by some sort of hibernation, or perhaps even being frozen for study by the forerunners before the rings activated.

They might not have known the length of time that the Flood could live without food.

First of all, he clearly said: "for study by the forerunners BEFORE the rings activated." The Forerunners didn't know they where going to have to activate the rings until AFTER they studied the Flood.
Second of all, the monitors on the Halo rings study them now, DUH! That was 343 Guilty Spark's job, to keep the Flood contained and study their hibernation patterns. Just because your civilization is going to be wiped out doesn't mean you can't leave something behind for future civilizations to learn from.

From now on, read the post carefully before blowing a gasket at it for no reason...

Actually, what I mean is that they studied the Flood before they activated the rings, and that the decision to activate them wasn't known by all of the facilities untill it was too late. It is perfectly feasable that some of the labs (Lockout for example) were left behind when the Forerunners manning them suddenly kicked the bucket.

Also, seeing as these script writers are the PRIMARY reason that Halo even exists, isn't it their choice what can and can't happen in THEIR UNIVERSE?

THE RINGS DO NOT DESTORY FLOOD!

First off, it was not stated, nor was it disputed, that the Rings were weapons. I haven't played in a while, but I'm pretty sure about that.

Second: We don't know anything about the flood physiology, maybe they don't need food to survive, only to evolve and grow. Did you ever think of that, sherlock?

The writers of Halo are way smarter than you, and they obviously have thought about this way more than you. Go dis the makers of some crap game like Dreamfall.

If what he said is true then 3 halo's are not the size of the galaxy and if a halo did go off it wouldnt reach earth anyway cos thats in a other solar system ( or 10 ) ( or 20 ).

What spark actually said was something along the lines of three radii of the galactic core. We don't know with respect to what the radii relate to but it's generall believed that it's three galactic radii. Besides Spark also said that all sentient life in the galaxy died as planned. You can make up your own minds as to what that means for the human race.

Simple, they found a way too save us. And by the way it knocks out all sentient life. Key word is sentient. Now then we have the Ark. The term generally refers to a safe area. Ever thought that humanity could have been kept on this Ark? How about the Covenant as well? Yeah it is possible that they were since they do have this nifty Forerunner ship.

And the Flood were put into stasis. Meaning they were probably frozen in cryogenics of sorts. You can live if you are frozen. "But how did the Gravemind survive?" Simple, there was plenty of life on the Delta Halo to begin with. All the Flood need to survive is calcium deposits, which is what they use from our bodies. The reason why they need sentient life is so that they can construct, think more clearly, and escape where ever they are.

So in short - you are an idiot. Think before you post.

Precisely. One radius of the Galaxy from the Galactic Core would wipe out everything in this galaxy, and 3 radii would wipe out any extra-galactic life forms anywhere nearby as well.
