Hey guys, not sure if this has been posted before or if you already knew about this but there is a way to get DLC for free without breaking Xbox Live TOS, Provided someone you know and most importantly TRUST already has the DLC.

Requirements
1. A friend/relative with DLC License
2. Trust

Steps
1. Ask your friend or relative for permission to use his or her windows live ID and password & download his or her profile onto your Xbox.
2. Download or copy the DLC onto your Xbox (ie Anniversary Map Pack)
3. Boot up the game (ie Reach) with your friend or relatives gamertag signed in.
4. Wait for title screen to appear or load up a playlist or map which contains DLC content.
5. Sign out, then sign into your profile (depending on game you might need to use a second controller)
6. Boom, Free DLC without breaking TOS.

Notes:
1. You may need a second controller depending on the game, use second controller to sign in your friend or relatives gamertag
2. You will have to sign in with this persons gamertag everytime you load up the game(s) with DLC you want to access.

Also for those of you who might think it breaks TOS take a look at usage restrictions on the marketplace on your DLC of choice and it will say you can use the DLC on other xbox 360 consoles but you will need to sign into xbox live with the account that originally purchased the item.

There you go, if you have any questions or feedback then fire away.

Call me Stu

I have multiple accounts on my xbox shouldn't all of them be able to use the dlc I have downloaded?

Yeah they can, but if you have another xbox in your household or someone you know who wants the map pack but doesn't want to pay 1200 msp for it then this is a workaround.

Not really, It doesn't break the Usage restrictions, If they didn't want you doing this then they would patch it.

Yeah, sorry, but you are breaking the TOS. You're stealing the key for the DLC. This is a form of piracy.

Sorry, but you will in all likelihood get banned for this.

Two things mate.

A. Yes, this is breaking rules. Rationalize how it's fine to do all you want but it won't change the situation.

B. This doesn't work. Well more specifically, it would only work as long as you have that original Gamertag saved to your Xbox. If your 'friend/relative' ever wanted to play on another Xbox, they would need to recover their gamertag. That would mean you wouldn't be able to use it, now wouldn't it?

When you download an item, the license to use that item goes to the console and the account. That means the account that paid for the content will always be able to use it regardless of the Xbox. It means the console that originally downloaded it will allow ALL of the profiles on it to use the content.

If you recovered your 'friend's' gamertag, you would need his account forever. If you had the license transferred to your Xbox, he would never be able to play the content on another Gamertag (well, he'd have to buy the content a second time).

In short? Silly, stupid, pay for the content that cost time and money to make.

Is $10.00 really that much?

I'm off topic, and posting how to commit marketplace theft. Please ridicule and then ban me.
That's how I read it.

Wait a minute, isn't there a legitimate and non-rulebreaking way of doing a DLC transfer?

Yes. Using the License Transfer Tool via Xbox.com. To understand this fully, see my first post. I'll be speaking here as if what I said before is known.

This will move the license from the Xbox that originally downloaded it. However, the account will always retain its license. The License Transfer tool can only be used on an account once per year. This will make it so the first Xbox will no longer be able to use the DLC without that specific account. In short? It just reverses the situation if you're trying to steal like in the first post.

However, many people would get the red rings of death and get a new Xbox back. When that happens, Microsoft is supposed to transfer your licenses for you. Sometimes they forget, however, and that is when the transfer comes in real handy. That way you don't have to re-buy any content to use it on this new Xbox. Of course, it's also useful if you just upgrade to a better Xbox.

Stealing? hahaha. from microshaft? hahahaha.

Usage restrictions need to be changed then obviously as it says nothing about piracy, it says you can copy them and use them on other xbox's, its not like you are modifying anything.

And this should not be a bannable offense as they ALLOW you do to it, if anything they should get rid of the ability to do that.

You can avoid all of those problems by just buying the maps.

Also just read the code of conduct again. 1 rule that goes agaisnt this is dont give out your personal information.

Says nothing about DLC...

What if there's two xbox's in same household? That's not giving out personal information.

Pretty sure the new DLC is only for the GT you download it on.. I've seen many people try to use the maps on other gamertags but it doesn't work like it used to.

This. It's not worth getting your account and your friend's account banned, and maybe a console ban, over a couple bucks worth of map packs.

Ok look, this is really annoying, so here comes a rage post so

Inb4umadbro? (and all variations)
Inb4coolstorybro (and all variations)
Inb4niceblog (and all variations)

You're preaching piracy. Plain and simple. You can twist the truth to satisfy your needs all you'd like, but bottom line you are promoting piracy.

If you honestly believe that you find this acceptable, then you need to grow up. Its $10 max for the map pack. If you have a hard time scraping together ten bucks for it, then how are you still on XBOX Live?

And the fact that you utilize a fail safe system for users who have a broken XBOX, and exploit it for your own needs is astounding in and of itself.

I'll be honest, I used to download one or two things myself, but it's a disgusting behavior I fund, and gave it up. And as a coder, a producer, and an editor, I find people like you to be deplorable.
