I too think that humans could be the forerunners. I think that the reason why they disappered and we (todays humans) still exist is because some how the forerunners used the time/space bending crystal to ensure that the human race survived. Kind of like time travel in a way. The crysal was mentioned in the halo novel "First Strike" if you are intresed.

Listen carefully to 343 Guilty Spark in the Library and the Maw. In each level he'll give clues as to who the Forerunners are.

basically the forerunners are past humans who were extremely advanced who came acrose the flood, and built the halos. the halos are defense mechanisims that are supposed to contain the spread of flood by vaporizing everything around thats organic when activated. and if you played the games you also know thta the covies don't understand this or want to and are determined activate it anyway . and if you dont believe the forerunners were human read the books or play the game (can't remember which one says it) and guilty spark even says to MC that his armour is not of the right level like his is only lvl 4 out of fifteeen (or so its been awhile) and guilty spark bases this on how the MC looks like the past halo defenders(some special name said but can't think of it at the moment) so yeah. dont get me wrong if i messed up on any typos jsut posting messages not writinjg a book and if i said something contradicting its source sorry my bad

The forerunners could be anciant Covenant. I mean look at the writing on the walls on halo. Then look at the writing on the covenant ships.. They look the same, and they both use plasma Tech. The covenant could of created the halos and forgot about it over time. You know they are that stupid! But on the other hand 343GS called the humans "reclaimers" and earth looks alot like the other Halos.
Who Knows... I guess well find out later

My guess is they are anchient humans, and that there is at least one on that ship MC took off in on H2. You know that they didn't create the flood, or kill all life.

1) The moniter says they studied the flood.

2) If Halo destroyed all, why are we here...?

Another theory is that they were giant eyes with legs. A lot of the control pannels and forerunner holo-pads looked like they would read eye-patterns, and the moniters form supports this. But I think they're humans.

People with poor depth perception tend to go the extra mile.

Uniquely Hard Sniper Map

This is my argument why the Forerunners were Human. 343 Guilty Spark was obviously around when the Forerunners were alive, because he has "relevent data" on them activating the Halo. This means he would recognize a Forerunner, or someone who looked like a Forerunner (decendant). In Halo: CE, Master Chief is called a "Reclaimer". The definition of reclaim is "to regain possession of", so a Reclaimer is one who takes possession of something that was previously theirs. In order for a species to reclaims Halo, they must have previously had it, and therefore must also be a Forerunner's decendant. Reclaimers are Forerunners; Master Chief is recognized as a Reclaimer; Master Chief is a Human; Humans are Forerunners. It all connects.

Actually all humans are reclaimers, Miranda Keyes....and the trailer can't be the Ark firing, that would require a reclaimer, like the halos unless truth captured a human but hes too zealous to use the humans. anyway back to the point at hand......I think time travel will play a part in this, even though it might suck simply because the forerunner technology is too advanced.

We have rose from the ashes of battle and we're goin' back in......................maybe...

From wat ive heard 343 say in the original halo it sounds like the forerunners are an ancient race (not human, covenant or flood) that imo are the ones responsible for creating all lower levels of life (humans, flood, and covenant) This is only my theory but if u really think about it it makes quite a bit of sense.

Yes it does, the forerunners could be "god". The games already have alot of religious references.

These are all great ideas and I'm glad that you guys were able to pitch in to my library of ideas. I plan on forming a theory one all the data that has been given to me. It'sprobably going to involve time travel due to the fact that I think that the the crystal they found on reach can bend time. The crysal, I think, still has a major role in the story line. The halo bible wouldn't include that crystal in its story just to make ships go faser. There has to be something about it that we're not seeing. I think that it could also explain what happened to the forerunners.

I have one small issue with saying that humans are the forerunners.

A long while back, I remember reading something about how the MJOLNIR suits were based loosely off Greek Mythology (demons, armor, gods, I cannot remember what). Now, being based loosely on a religion created by humans many thousands of years ago honoring beings that 'created us' and 'taught us' and brought us 'enlightenment'... things the Forerunner are said to have done... the resemblence of the Chief's Mark V to what GS calls a "level 2 containment skin" or whatever he said - something must have been lost in the translation. What my issue here is - why would Forerunner descendants make religions praising their ancestors as Gods, and then suddenly forget all of the learning and technology? Is it because this Ark they built to protect the earth - and the last of their race - was such a last ditch effort that no extra tech. was ever transported in enough masse to continue living in such a level of decadence?

However, it should be pointed out that a Marine, with his face clearly visible, was lead almost halfway through the library by GS, who must have recognized something in him linking him to the ancient creators...

If humans are the forerunners would that mean the Covenant is actually destroying the things they worship?
