Starting from the first game, Halo: Combat Evolved, I started to see symolism being used, quite frequently I might add. (Okay from Halo 2, whatever). First, the Spartan-II project. Spartans were mighty ancient warriors, and except for the ancient thing, the Spartan-II's are the same. One of the most famous battles of the spartans was a defeat, strangely. 300 spartans held off a staggering number of Greek warriors (100,00+) in a canyon for a few days with minimal losses. That is, until they were flanked because they were betrayed. They weren't holding off the Greeks, they were holding off Persians.
This said, the Chief may follow the same fate as his predecessors. They say history defeats itself, so the Master Chief may fall.Actually, the correct saying is "history repeats itself."
Like the 300 spartans, the small number of Spartan-II's have annihilated an immeasurable number of Covenant. The Master Chief alone destroyed an armada (Halo: Combat Evolved). All of the Spartans-II's and spartans were great warriors, but even the mightiest warriors may not survive such a vicious onslaught. Indeed, all 300 spartan warriors were killed. That's why the supersoldiers are called spartans in the first place; they are really strong. Like the ancient Greeks.
Next, the MJOLNIR armor. MJOLNIR, I believe, was the name of the hammer used by Thor. Likewise, the MJOLNIR armor is powerful and is a devastating tool used in the right hands. The hammer of Thor could not be wielded by any mortal. Spartan-II's, as stated in the book, never officially "die." So, Spartan-II's are not mortals. They are gods. They cannot officially die because they aren't completely human to begin with; they are cyborg supersoldiers, not gods.
Gravemind...he's a symbol for SOMEthing...I just know it...got it. Gravemind is the spartan (ancient) who betrayed his allies and got everyone killed. Since Gravemind is a Forerunner flood (speculation, but it makes sense), then he's not really a spartan or Spartan-II to begin with. Anyway, this spartan decided to tell the Greek warriors how to flank them. Gravemind used the Master Chief and the Arbiter as tools to escape Delta Halo and infest the universe. What a nice guy! So yeah, he's the traitor. The traitor in Ancient Greece wasn't a Spartan to begin with.
The Arbiter...I have no idea.Perhaps he's a covenant savior...or some covie guy that sees the truth behind the Prophets. The one covie that isn't blinded by religion.
The Monitors...???Perhaps they are nothing but guardians of a hidden legacy.
The Ark (duuh). Though Bungie hasn't said it yet, (what do they admit?) that thing in the trailer was probably the Ark. The Covenant was never trying to destroy Earth in the first place, they knew about the Ark (when Truth was tlaking to the Arbiter, he told him 2401 Penitent Tangent told them it told THEM everything they wanted to know). Of course they would have asked about the Great Journey, and everything about it. That would lead to the discovery of the location of the Ark. (I don't think they knew that at the end of Halo, when they attacked Earth however. They just wanted to exterminate us). So, the Ark is a symbol for....honestly, I have no idea. Bungie hasn't said much about the Ark other than it remotely activates the 13 (?) Halos. There are seven halos. And...the ark represents knowledge, probably.
That's all until I think of (remember) more.Go get eaten by a fried fish.
