The Renaissance Man; The Bigger Fool.

I've thought the same thing. But what to replace it with? Possibly an advertisement for their new game?

For some weird reason, this reminds me of the Myth II bug installer error.... you will continue to see our advertisements wether you like it or not!

Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

Sure, it's been there for a pretty long while, but would you honestly get sick of it after seeing it for a few thousand times? It's a pretty cool screenshot, and it's not actually harming anybody. Plus, the people who actually haven't bought the Noble map pack can still be motivated to purchase it after seeing this advertisement.

Personally, I don't think of it as something that's a priority or at least an issue that needs to be dealt with in a matter of minutes.

Although, I would agree that there're better things that could be in place of that advertisement. Perhaps some new store items, or one of the classic "Work at Bungie Take Over the World" ads. I miss those.

I play for fun and armory completion. :)

If they're not being paid to keep it up or receiving money from the map packs themselves, I don't see why they keep it up.

There's a slew of things that they could replace it with. Hiring banners, private group spotlight, Soffish advertisement, link to the webcams, front page news, etc. The Noble Map Pack is getting pretty stale.

What if Private Groups could submit an advertisement to Bungie and they randomly display it in that spot?

Uh, yes sir, I understand that, but, um, I just thought, you know, that uh, maybe, um, some of us could voice our opinions on this, um, matter. And the, um, first few people, er, posters, bring up a neat side topic, um, about what else could, uh, be there. Just a thought, um, yeah, you know.

This guys use of punctuation is very fascinating.

/Sarcasm

OT: I think they're gonna leave that there until some info about their new project is released.

Although, they could replace it with a picture and link to the "Carrer/Jobs" page.

Interesting request here.

Do you typically go into people's houses and request that they re-decorate because you've seen all their photos and furniture before?

I don't think that analogy is remotely close to the situation presented here. The purpose of ads on websites is to encourage you to buy products/services. Decorations in someone's house are there to appeal aesthetically, among other unrelated reasons.

As many of us have purchased the map pack, we are the wrong audience for the ad. Alternatives could be community art, or possibly ambiguous ads for future Bungie titles.

OP, if you're using Firefox there's a terrific extension that goes by the name "adblock plus". I'm sure you can guess what it does.

Also available for chrome. I use it now.

Hey, don't blame me. Some people just have no sense of interior design so you just have to give them a little nudge and let them know that the pictures of Grandma need to go.

Who are you to say whether or not the intended purpose has been served? Many may have purchased it, but certainly not all. And I doubt we're actually considering targetted ads for every individual on this site.

Regardless, the point is that this is Bungie's site. Suggesting that the relevence of an ad be reconsidered is reasonable. Requesting that it be removed simply because of one's own personal preference is a little... presumptuous.

To add to the discussion, I have not purchased the map pack yet.

2/15/12: Francisco Porras, I'll miss you. Rest in Peace.

You could get ad block for Chrome or Firefox. I have it and it works great.

EDIT: Beat me to it^^

Just ignore it, it's there for market advertisement reason. If you bought the Noble map packs, that's good. The ad won't go away because it's prolong within the website's code.
