I read on Halopedia you can get a glimpse of a Flood-infected human very early on in the swamps, I never saw him but did hear him groan. Aside from the infected Elite by the Shade which almost everyone must've noticed by now, I noticed two other infected Elites to the right up above in an area you can't access unless you jump on top of the Pelican at the start of the level. I fired several rounds at one them with the Pistol, and I think I killed it or just downed him (this was on Easy by the way, because I just wanted to look at a few things). If you want to see these infected Elites yourself, watch for yellow dots very carefully on the motion tracker and look in their direction; they go quickly. Now, also on the right of the makeshift bridge is a pipe and piece of level you can walk up that will take you to a bush with Active Camouflage inside of it. Now here's something; the Camo is absolutely useless as there are pretty much no enemies to neutralise (sure there are Grunts and Jackals, but after all they're just Grunts and Jackals).

There's something else too; the cutscene continuously screws up the characters of Mendoza and Jenkins. Because the Marines (except for Stacker and Johnson, in some cases at least) are randomly generated, they don't really have any identity. Jenkins sounds a lot like both Mendoza and Bisenti, now at the start of the cutscene Mendoza is talking to Jenkins, then when Chief fast forwards we see Mendoza commenting on a dead Elite, despite that it's Jenkins' voice coming from his mouth, this happens again when Mendoza is unlocking the door.

Last thing; this cutscene is in real-time, at the start when they are in the Pelican, you can see a Flood Infection Spore jump at the camera for a split-second (you just see the tentacles and tendrils, but it's a Spore all right), next is when the Marines are ambushed. Mendoza, Johnson and Keyes are the only people who open fire (there are two other Marines but they just seem to stand there to the right of Jenkins), it's funny how they just fire at the ceiling randomly, and sometimes the Spores don't even attack they just run around or stand there.

There's a few things that intrigue me about this level, its layout is huge but you only explore a small amount (if you stay with the Marines at the end of the level, you can sometimes go beyond the tower where you are meant to be picked up).

Carrots.

You can catch a glimpse of him/her.
There are some hills you can't climb, on one, there is plenty of fog, if you can, look up at all of them, there will be fog, but you will see a combat form jump up to the top, and than he/she will jump away behind the hills with his/herclaw raised.

I've also heard about those "ghost" infection forms. Never actually explored the level to look for 'em though--the level creeps me out too goddamn much.

I heard though, that if you do get to see them, they don't move or anything, and they wont die if you shoot them. I dunno, maybe I just found my information somewhere different.

I swear this works: Right before you jump out of the Pelican, start chunking grenades as fast as you can. You get stuck inside the Pelican. Stay inside (you can jump out whenever you want by pressing b x) until the the ship lands. It'll land on some higher ground behind where you start. Then explore the terrain. If I were you, I would go down the hill behind the Pelican (stay on the cliff area away from regular ground) and go straight. Whoever finds the Lost Marine first let me know! (Turn your light on you can see him better)

ps. Trust me about the grenade thing. If it doesnt work the first time, restart level and keep trying!
